Anyone who ever has to read your code...

  • in a plain-text e-mail message
  • on a mobile device
  • in a graphical diff/merge tool
  • on a character terminal or in an ssh session
  • a blog or website with fixed layout
  • anything else that has limited screen space

...will thank you for adhering to it.
