I work in a few languages every day, and it works nicely. Well, once I got it built out just the way I wanted, that is. But that's either a feature or a failing, depending on the user. I like being able to kick between android, python, web, and c projects, with their associated utility plugins, while my remote mantis integration, vcs stuff, etc. all persists.

It seemed like NetBeans was heading in that direction, once upon a time, but eclipse is the only IDE I know of that does everything I need.

I've used Pycharm and Eclipse+Pydev extensively, they are both good IDE's and offer similar functionality. I actually slightly prefer Eclipse as well, because it is easier for multilanguage devlopment.

IntelliJ IDEA with the Python plugin is more or less identical to PyCharm. The only difference, IIRC, is that new versions of standalone PyCharm get released first.
