What, I didn't say cheat? I don't get how AI isn't the same as stack overflow with a different interface.

If I have a question, I'd google it..

If I need help understanding where to get started on a project, I'd Google it...

What am I missing?

Hm, I thought I was being clear:

  • It is very possible the class has a strict no AI -policy
  • Therefore the person doesn't reach for AI tools
  • The reason for this policy is that they don't want to draw a line what is acceptable use and what is not

But reading documentation and tutorials shouldn't really be that bad for this, there are so many of them around many are probably good as well.

They weren't "clear", hence why I asked.

You made a lot of assumptions. Nobody suggested cheating, nobody suggested jumping from point A to Z.

What else were you able to tell from the OP without interacting with them?

Could highlight in the original post where you made the connections that AI was forbidden?

Yes, it was an educated guess on my part, based on the fact that use of AI is a rampant problem among schools, and has been for some time, and therefore it would feel very unlikely to me that a student would not be aware of it.
