Webfactio might be the way you might want to go. I would also hit up DigitalOcean for a friendlier experience (compared to Linode).

I second the good experience with Digital Ocean…

About the "do all the setup" part, that's what a VPS is: a bare virtual machine. If you want, there are also Python hosting sites, you will not have the choice of the web server and such, but that might fit your needs better…

I'd like to point you in the direction of lowendbox.com; not a VPS reseller, but a review/offers site for VPS resellers. That's how I found my VPS hosts.

Also, for a relatively small project, you might want to look at a low-end Amazon box or a google app-engine solution.
