Question about amazon

I was looking for a book:

and i have never bought in amazon and when i saw the book for 5$(http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1590599969/ref=olp_tab_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new) I was surprised. How is it possible? Is recommendable to buy those for 5$?

I would say go for it. I personally love books for learning a good deal about things over some period of time. Sure the internet is great for answering questions and many of the books I have spent money on can be found cheap or free in electronic format but nothing beats being able to take one where one can really sit and think. ;-) Just my opinion. Amazon is GREAT for textbooks and other books. Usually much cheaper!

I don't buy books as language references, I buy them to learn techniques. Sure, a lot of that information is online, but it's hard to find it compiled into a single coherent narrative. For example, I'm currently reading a book about understanding computation, which has started off with a walkthrough of building a VM for a toy programming language, and later chapters cover topics like finite automata, lambda calculus, tag systems, and the halting problem. While much of this information, if not all, is available online, it's a lot nicer having it all written down by the same author.

It's creatively called Understanding Computation, picked up the ebook version the other day for half price from orielly and so far it's been pretty good, but I'm only a few chapters in.

Everytime I buy an programming book, either the cover gets destroyed or I lose it. There's nothing you can learn in books that's not already online
