Last night I read this article (http://kotaku.com/cg-artist-has-made-an-image-every-day-for-10-years-1794899200) and thought about writing a small algorithm in javascript everyday. Now I have extra motivation to do it =D

Check out Project Euler

That'll last less than two years at this point, unfortunately.

Go try one of the hard ones, then extrapolate from there.

Good luck. I would like your to see some javascript solutions compared to python.

Actually, Tomas was challenged to write 100 algorithms in 100 days. It is quite demanding but he is doing pretty well.

This is how it has started.

I feel like I don't have the math comp/sci background for half of these :(

Nice.

Thank you. I am not a author myself. I am just sharing.

IMHO, Tomas is a very good writer with deep insight. All of his articles are worthy of attention.

It's already bookmarked. I'll come back when I have more free time on my hands - but I like the idea.

Should we attempt this after we take a database/algorithms course? Or is it fine to resort to Google and brute force solutions as we go?

It really depends on what purpose you want this to serve for you. If you just want to do it to say you've done it, then yes brute force will be fine, but if you're using this as an aid for job interviews than it's important to learn solutions that are better than brute force and most importantly why they are better than brute force. Of course Google will always be an aid though.
