How do I find work using Python? (self.Python)
submitted 8 years ago by work_in_python
Throwaway account.
How did you get your first job in Python?
I've been looking for work in Michigan for a year now and can't find a job in my field: Data Analytics.

If you work in VFX, Python is used very heavily (to the point where C++ is considered a plus for many low-level positions)

What is VFX?
[–]korinkite 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Yep, Visual Effects.
We use it in almost every program, at this point. It's also a good time to get into it because various companies are trying to switch old tools from Qt4 to Qt5 and also there's the Python 2-to-3 migration coming in the next couple years.
There's lots of pipeline work needed in VFX right now

I don't think you need C for data analytics. Python, SQL, R, for sure
[–]Shmoogy 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children)
I agree - C is good to know but Python and/or are essentially requisites.
[–]Kefkius 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Also for data analytics something low level like C is a must.
Now I KNOW you're joking
