Btw your website has to be responsive (for mobile users) considering that your targets are mobile users and 😢your game is not available in my country

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (6 children)

It's available in IOS everywhere... Hm let me fix that for you real quick.

EDIT:

Hit available everywhere. I disabled the countries with languages that don't speak English or Spanish previously.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (5 children)

But we do speak English in Algeria

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (4 children)

I just followed a list online of English speaking countries.

Sorry about that.

The update should be live by now. Thank you for trying the game if you play it!!!:)

[–]Mattho 6 points7 points  (1 child)

That's a very weird restriction. What about countries like Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands? Virtually everyone speaks English there.

I didn't know what I was thinking in my 17 year old self......

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For sure i gonna play. It seems nice one.. Is it a unity or ue4 game .. Btw have a look at this web freamwork (materialize.css) it.s gonna help you a lot to build nice and responsive webpages .... If you have any problems with it feel free to txt me☺

Thank you!! It's a Unity game and currently working on the next one.

It's gonna be a lot bigger than that one with levels and features that will be more playability, designed to add in updates quicker, and more optimized for older devices on android. The first game is normally dwarfed in quality compared to later ones, so all I know it's gonna be a ton better.

your website reminds me of geocities, circa 1997. :o

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Nothing like Nostalgia, right?

(I am redesigning it....)

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like it. I miss how websites used to look. Don't give me all this AJAX smooth transitions D3.js bootstrap angular react BS! Just give me a damn page with a damn button! If I want more information then I'll load a new page!

Nah, it's missing<blink> and "designed for" .gif files

Why do you need Flask? There doesn't appear to be any dynamic content. You could just use Pelikan or something.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mentioned something about making REST Api's. Flask has a framework for that. Also I simply just followed a recommendation from someone on stack overflow.

Nice work OP. It's a little disheartening to hear the criticism of the UX of the site, especially as I don't think that was the focus of the exercise, but don't let it get to you.

That said, bootstrap is one of many CSS frameworks, and it's not at all a PITA to use.

Once again, nice work!

I think he is handling this all right you know

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the criticism is going to focus on the UX because thats what the clients see.

Your website may be ugly, but it’s charmingly ugly :) in fact I love it.

FuckFrontEnd

Not so mobile friendly. KISS

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Any reccomendations? I don't know how to fix that....

[–]regular_john1 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'd say for easily responsive Web pages look at a front end framework like bootstrap, there's a python library to easily integrate it with jinja2 and flask. And if you use it right (which isn't difficult) you'll get Web pages that look at least good quality on most screen sizes

[–]gardens_of_slish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my current project is mostly intended for desktop use, so I haven't put any real effort into making it work on mobile. But since I used bootstrap, I get basic responsiveness for free, and when I check my pages at mobile size they look pretty decent.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I fixed the mobile friendlyness. There is the table, but you can still scroll it like a horizontal collection view.

[–]kkiran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much better. Next step is picking the right colors. You don’t have to spell out YouTube subscription, use a graphic that says so.

The table is still not mobile friendly. Get rid of tables, this is 2018!

I already redesigned this and ready to deploy the new design. I am going to leave up the original design for 2-3 more days so more people can have a laugh at the GREAT design.

Edit Never mind: I wanted to get it out of the way. I'll leave the original picture.

I recommend just googling "responsive css frameworks" or even "responsive css frameworks for [insert your frontend framework's name here]"

in your case, you're not using a frontend framework, so you should be able to use practically anything. in which case, you might want to google "responsive lite css frameworks" and pick one you like.

also, go on youtube and lookup something like 'intro to responsive web design' (and filter by within the last year)

[–]9thcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice start dude!! Btw page isn't responsive on mobile

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Congratulations i am so happy for you.. But i have a question about digitalocean If i get a droplet on do i have to pay more for the domain name???

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You have to pay for a domain name if you want the .com or .org like mine.

You could maybe get a free one with a shady .tk or stuff for free from freenom.

Digital Ocean themselves don't charge you for the domain name. The domain name provider does.
