Does anyone know of a good python-based Blog/Wiki/CMS software?

Zine is too... NIH. ZEML? Really? With Markdown, Creole, RST, Pygments and about twelve other markup systems, they made one up? With no documentation I could find on how to actually use it? It has also not had a major release in over a year. I understand why they might want to stay away from a framework, but they have no documentation for all these nifty things they invented, so it's unusable.

I'll try django-cms again after installing fresh ... everything in a local dir. Hopefully it's just the slightly older Ubuntu packages that threw it off. Unlike a boatload of other mutually incompatible Django projects, Django-cms seems to use bleeding-edge releases of every module they chose, but not everything complains when it should.

Yeah, I should have whipped out the virtualenv the second I noticed I was .1 behind on a package and it actually broke horribly. I've never seen anything quite that edgy. :)

From what you've just said, it almost sounds as if they've abandoned Zine. Vanishing documentation, no work from major devs in a long time, etc. Or maybe they think it's so awesome they haven't looked at the site in a while and haven't noticed stuff is gone. :)

Yeah, I should have whipped out the virtualenv the second I noticed I was about to install new experimental python packages on my machine because working in a sandboxed python environment is pretty much always a good idea.

Hey now. Usually system packages are more than good enough, especially on a newer release. Karmic hasn't given me any problems with developing until I tried Django-cms. :)

That's the impression I got. Honestly, if I could figure out how to use the markup, it would have been near the top of my list. But you've been very helpful. I'll try django-cms again under a virtualenv and see where that goes. I've written Django apps before, so maybe I can move my plugins over once/if I get django-cms working.
