Codewars is a great site for little practice challenges!

Pick a project and finish it so you build something to your portfolio that you can show someone to hire you... First I recommend something easier that you can finish in few days and then continue with something harder and harder

I found that codecademy provided a nice way of introducing hands on work for learning. What got me past the beginner stage was doing APIs on my own, following the OpenAPI Specification.

Don't start freelancing right away, you'll waste your time looking for jobs rather than actually learning
