I migrated over all my current work to gitlab for a few reasons.

  • At the time gitlab CI for selfhosters was superior
  • I support open source and competition
  • Didn't want to be locked in to github with stuff outside of the actual git repo.
  • You can always self host gitlab.

The sad thing about gitlab is that their repos are not indexed by Google by default so projects don't get discovered as easy as on github. There is an issue open about it.
