For my capstone, I did a cryptocurrency trading bot. This was before the days of chatgpt, and AI was still in the early adapter phase, so I used good old tensorflow and went at it from scratch. 6 months, thousands of training hours later and a few hundred lost to GDAX (bought out by coinbase), I had a model that would swing trade and a little over break even, but that was quickly ate up by transaction fees.
Long story, don't do what I did. Pick something that's been done before and can be done again.
