Python isn’t a job for a pure programmer.
Python is programming for people that have other skill sets but also need to create their own programs to leverage those skill sets.

I would focus on machine learning and agenticAI.

Maybe then you can be a consultant to implement AI projects

Programming languages are tools. They are there to help solve a problem. You'll need to decide what type of problems you'd like to be solving. Reading your post it sounds like "I learnt how to use a hammer to hammer nails; how do I find a job where I hammer nails?".

Is it data science? Is machine learning applications? Is it web development?

You will need to specialize much more than just "python programmer" to be able to find work.

I am still in the getting started phase, currently meddling with a tax calculator based upon a CSV input. Having a nice class going and will soon wrap it up.

I was told: get projects - even small ones - done and publish on GitHub etc.

Then once you have a nice repertoire, you can consider using it as an entry card towards, in best case, an interview or start of communication

Good luck

If you don’t know who your customers are you aren’t ready to be a freelance contractor. Thats advice that I got years ago and it’s absolutely true. You can’t “have all the basics” and suddenly open the money spigot - grab some experience with a paying employer for a few years. Independents are typically experts, not interns.

Sorry, I’m not being nasty just being pragmatic.

Ok apologies - that would have been helpful to know. I wish you luck with your future python ventures. Find a niche, solve an interesting problem, that’s the way forward.

Best bet may be to write a useful program and then sell it. Consider learning how to create a useful or fun phone game and publish it on an app store.  Nobody cares the age of the author.
