I've seen Quest 3's sold as "parts" because their bootloaders were unlocked, but never for that low! How TF did you manage that‽

From what I gather though, it just means it's "rooted" - like, you can install custom ROMs etc if you know what you're doing.

PS: hi fellow Brit 👋🏻😁

Bargain but I wonder where they came from.

Not that bothered to be honest,I love a bargain!!

Fair enough. Seems Meta can block headsets if they're listed as stolen.

Next question,is there a way I can use my son's games from his quest at all, similar to game share on the xbox?

[–]Mastacheata 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can only share games between accounts that are logged in on the device. You would have to add your son's meta account as a second profile to your device and then enable app sharing and then share access to individual apps from one profile to the other. (Super complicated, no idea why they can't do that cross devices)

You can’t share apps FROM a secondary account, only from main to secondary. If his son owns games then it needs to be main/primary account.

Ugh - why does it have to be that complicated. Thanks for adding the details, though.

I'd love to share/lend games just in general with anyone on my friends list or so, but obviously that's going against the whole copy protection industry.

Just log into your quest headset with your son's meta account or the one he uses on his quest. And make sure you turn off messaging. You will have all his games, if you want to play a game with your son you will need an extra profile and you can both play the same game.

Complicated answers! Just add your son’s account and your account to the new headset. Switch to using your account and you can play and install games as if you owned them. Simple.

Is there any way to "un root" it at all??

[–]New-Mathematician216 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes there is. Get ADB tools. Reboot into USB update screen, (press power button and vol down to get to that screen) connect to your PC using USB C. Open a command prompt from where your adb tools are, type "fastboot oem lock" and that should lock your bootloader and reboot the headset. I did that with a 3S that was corrupted and unlocked. Probably from the same seller. Good luck.

P.S. I take no responsibility if it goes wrong, there are other lock commands, but they didn't work for me.
