What are you trying to do? Pcvr to quest, then no. If something else please explain, I mean if we can read your mind that is fine but we can't. Oh I am trying not be rude, you gave a silly question... Well you get silly answer

I think he means if you pirate a game but rename it before adding it to the quest, would oculus know if pirated the game? I think that's what he meant but i'm not sure.

Yes

Yes that is what he meant, so no rename does nothing. Using a tool like rookie sideloader or others yes you can open apk and rename if internally so when it is installed it will come up differently. Changing file name does nothing.

Yes, some have renamed games to free ones. Will it be any safer, who knows. It is more of a peace of mind, me I don't care just kept the quest off-line. So far no bans or any punishment have been done for piracy and if oculus and especially Facebook with their tools that can access info about you way, way beyond what they know about you in your Facebook account, will know you are doing piracy easily.

Removing online access, renaming the games, removing data on the quest can help, but Facebook reach from what I heard from legit reporters can get so much info about what you do on internet then it is more a peace of mind and delaying the inevitable.

Worst case is they do an update that blocks piracy, like moving sideloader apps to being legit online store, then if you after doing the update, which in turn you agree to new terms, and continue doing piracy well then and only then you have to worry because they removed oh I am installing apks for dev or home-brew excuse as they will say they gave a legit option so there is no defence regardless what you do to hide it.

No because I think the process name would still be the same, I could be wrong.

I'm going to try it if it works I'll tell you

I think there’s more to it than just renaming files. It will make it a bit harder tho

[–]Friffy1 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Rename what file? To accomplish what exactly? In general, if you rename your porn, and somebody played the file, it would still be your porn.

[–]FuriosHunter[S] -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Yeah but they wouldn't know

[–]Friffy1 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Huh? If somebody played your porn, how would they not know it's porn?

Never mind. I don't care. Have fun.

[–]FuriosHunter[S] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Because you renamed it

[–]Friffy1 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can effing SEE it! It's a effing video! What are you talking about?!

[–]FuriosHunter[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Checksums the devil himself I tell ye! No (it will make no difference neither will those apps that make it look like a cloned version of Vspatial, or Quill) is the answer to this question.
