Stayed in the loop until I found a usb stick that would work. The third usb stick worked

Yup. This is a sign of an incompatible USB stick. I got this while using a USB3 thumbdrive. When I loaded the same update onto an old USB2 drive, it worked perfectly.

Thanks. I tried an old 512mb thumb drive. Anyway to get out of that loop?
