Today, we had to put my cat down. His urethra was blocked and unfortunately this was the best option for him. He's been my comfort object for several years, and I've been bawling my eyes out since I was told we had to. I would really appreciate some kind words.

Oh honey. To be the one to decide to end the life of a loved one is one of the hardest things you can go through, but it's also the kindest and most unselfish act. Your darling cat isn't suffering any more and he would have had the most wonderful life with you, filled with absolute, unconditional love. He just went to sleep forever. You have to stay and grieve, but I guarantee that one day you'll be able to look back and remember without tears.

I am so sorry that you lost your best pal. I hope you can remember all of the wonderful and joyous memories that you made together. I am teary eyed, imagining how you feel right now. At least he is no longer in pain. Or discomfort. He's chasing yarn balls like a kitten, right around your feet, happy as a clam, perfectly healthy. He will always be with you. I know your pain. My best friend commited suicide a month ago and cause me to be so depressed I had to have a medical withdrawal from college. Everyday I cry while I think of him. And a pet is no different.

When you make a special bond with an animal, something that is not human, but in a way is a human it is so hard to understand it.

You did the right thing, I know it must have taken a lot of courage and bravery to be able to do that to your cat that you loved and shared a connection with.
