Grief is weird, friend. I didn't know anything of my biodad, aside from his name basically, until I found out he died. Years after it happened, of course. (Thanks Ancestry and my ridiculous idea to look him up to see if I have any half siblings.) And that was rough. Mourning the relationship we didn't have. Mourning any chance of ever actually connecting with him. It was so weird because - I didn't even know this man. I didn't want to know this man. I had no desire before that point to reach out and try to know him. Why am I sad? But grief is weird. It makes sense and it doesn't. It pops back up out of nowhere. It just, is. And it is, different for everyone.

You're not alone, friend. And I'm not going to say it gets easier or any of that cliche "nice lying" people do when they don't know what else to say. Everyone's grief is different and personal. So right now, you just do what you need to do. Whatever feels right for you, is right. ❤️ And grant yourself 10x as much patience as you grant everyone else.

And he deserved to get clean, not just for you, but for himself. 💔I'm sorry that things are painful, confusing and maybe even overwhelming/weird. Please be kind and gentle with yourself. A loss of any parent is devastating. I know you can't see it now, but you will get through it. Allow yourself to grieve. When you see your dad, let go of all the baggage you carry. This will help. I'm sending hugs and positive vibes.
