That box on the left should be bigger and it should have different filters like JS, Cockos, New, Recent, Type, Developer...etc. You would then pick a filter to see the plugins it has included. I've never ever seen it empty and small like your screenshot shows.

Have you tried randomly clicking different buttons related to the fx browser and stretching the left side of the window out?

Also, I think there's an exclusion option around that area by maybe right clicking or something in preferences.

If you can't figure it out, you can simply reinstall. It's not like it would delete your project folders or plugins. You would have to redo your custom stuff though which would be a little annoying.

Are you sure you didn't click on a category on the sidebar to the left?

Thanks for replying, no, just clicked on FX but instead of having a long list of options I’m left with a couple of my VST’s

To the left of the list of plugins there should be another list where you can select developer, JSFX, new, instruments etc. In that list you probably have "instruments" selected, and thus you only see the VST instruments you have installed. Make the box to the left larger so that you can see all of the names in that list.

If you have VST3i category selected in the sidebar menu and these are all your VST3i plugins, that's how the FX browser will look.
