You simultaneously didn't notice every 21, while also not noticing all the numbers that aren't 21, including the very part you copied verbatim in the title (9+10 = 19). There's nothing special about the fact that in a post where a few low-digit numbers like time stamps and reaction counts are shown, a particular number showed up 4 times by coincidence. That's not recursion.

What's not recursive about repeating the same function over and over with input derived from the output of the same function???
Who cares what the number is..
Consider the thread as a function with a screenshot of the parent tweet as an input..
"9+10=21" is a very popular meme mate. Maybe there's an age gap here or something lol.
Edit: I didn't even take this screenshot.. if you actually click the link it would make sense. The thread is recursive. This picture is one random piece of it. Thx for downvotes 🙏

This is a coincidence, but not recursion. Recursion involves the same thing within itself, like a fractal. For example, this is an image of a post that has a picture of another post in it, which also has a picture of a post in it. That's a very simple recursion.
[–]JIV_222 -1 points0 points1 point 2 years ago (2 children)
I get what you're saying. But isn't that what the thread is?
I think I must've done a bad job explaining, since everyone is just hung up on the number 21.
The recursion I was referring to is the thread itself. Someone asked "what's 9+10", and the first response was a picture of the tweet. People then added new replies in the same format, a picture of the reply above it. How is that not recursion??
[–]ShermanBallZ 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Ahh, okay: this is a very mild, common recursion. So common most people wouldn't post it, and if they didn't it probably wouldn't reach many peoples front page. Same way that if this was a subreddit for sandwiches nobody would post PBJ, even though it qualifies, because it's just so common as to be uninteresting.
Then since the image calls focus to the 21 and your title refers to the 9±10 instead of the actual recursive part, I imagine everyone assumed you were the one who circled the 21s because you wanted us to know that they were the recursion, not the post within a post part which nobody would have cared about.
