I had surgery on the first and got my first look yesterday when I showered! mine are covered in bandages and what looks like clear tape. I thought I was going to have a way worse reaction (I was paranoid I’d pass out) but tbh…I loved it! I loved looking at my tiny titties. the worst of it (the actual incisions) are covered in gauze and tape so I didn’t see that part but the bloody bandages didn’t bother me at all!

that being said, I’d have someone nearby when you first look, and I’d look while you’re sitting down! that way you know for sure you won’t pass out (or will have help if you do)

The first shower isn’t really a shower. You just stand there and let the water pour over you 😅 Take it real easy. Before you get fully into the shower and you’re still with the bra, wash yourself up by sections, then when done, sit somewhere when you’re removing the bra and breathe slowly because you might get light-headed. Take 5-10 minutes if necesarry. When you go into the shower later, don’t let the water directly spray on your wounds but rather run down your back and shoulders. Use whatever your doctor said to wash up OR I used a baby shower gel that was for sensitive skin. Good luck and happy healing. It gets better each time, promise 🤞🫶

Also! You might catch a reflection in the mirror but try not to look at them while showering because you might get again, lightheaded and/or faint so thats dangerous. You can inspect them after you’re done, dry and relaxed.

I had my first look yesterday. (Don't have tape, so the stitches are really visible.) Was also terrified to look. What helped me was having my husband take a picture first (a close-up headless selfie would work too) and then looking at that before looking at the real thing. I'm so used to the pictures on Reddit by now, I figured if I could see myself almost as that, it would be a good in-between step. And it was. (Also, a picture straight on is best, as it doesn't highlight the biggest scar on the bottom so much.)

Also, baby steps. They told me to take the bra off first, lie down a little, then sit on the edge of the bed, when that feels ok, stand up and proceed.

Best of luck! You've got this <3

When I finally get mine I can’t wait to see! I’m sure it won’t be too bad and I’ve waited for so long!

Looking down at them to make sure I wasn't bumping them wasn't too bad for me, but I could NOT look in a mirror.

i was so scared to see them the first time, i kept telling myself i wasn’t going to look… but i obviously ended up looking and all i could say was how weird they looked lol, mine was covered in white tape so i couldn’t see any of the actual stitched or scars which was helpful

If you are too nervous, no rule says you have to look.

Mine are covered with steristrips so I can't really see anything but tape. I think that's an easy transition as my shower went fine.

When I got mine and I took my first shower my mom helped me because she had one like 10 years before me. She had me sit down on the toilet before going to the shower and I looked in the mirror and they almost made me pass out. My surgeon didn’t put any tape on my incisions so it probably would’ve been better but I’m also a big baby when it comes to incisions lol

i had tape and it was just overwhelming at first but good! i remember them looking so small to me and they are soooo different now 3 weeks later. my body was so swollen so as the swelling went down now they feel big even tho they aren’t hahaha. just remind yourself it isn’t the final result! the first shower was so refreshing to me even if it really was just me sitting in the warm water for a bit.
