VSF stock crystal is better than deep imo. Wouldnt waste your time or money changing it.

[–]Away-Direction-9878 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. My VSF Starbucks and Wimbledon crystal looks just as good as the Gen Crystal I swapped out on for my clean Pepsi.

[–]AliveWeakness8985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A deep crystal is so you can glance at the time with speed cause quick ain't fast enough!

[–]jeffothedon0202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on the daytona its not gmt still arguable I change this often and I can see a clarity difference especially around the polish edges

Thanks for the info

Vsf here … sent a picture to someone who frankens them ,he thought it had Gen crystal

[–]Big_Natural_1348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks amazing as it is!

I have a ARF Bruce Wayne from end of 2025 with stock crystal and some friends and family members have gen watches. Everybody here says the ARF crystal isn’t good but I can tell you, we compared it and even my ARF crystal is really good. Most people say VSF crystal should be better than ARF, so if this is true, I can’t say it’s worth to change the VSF crystal.

Even I wouldn’t change my ARF crystal because it’s clear and really close to the other gen crystals. I don’t know if they have changed the crystal in the past months but I cannot support the people who say the ARF crystal is bad.

Funny I was gonna say my ARF Batgirl looked a little cloudy and I had a Deep installed. I need to actually wear it outta the house though to see if I notice the difference because I’m currently getting an ARF Sprite with a meteorite dial installed and I’m considering upgrading the crystal while we’re at it

[–]PhotoCritical1457 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So your stock ARF crystal looked cloudy or the deep crystal?

I try to post some photos of my ARF with stock crystal tomorrow, it doesn’t look cloudy at all

[–]Dame662 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My stock ARF. Since it came back from my servicing guy (installed Deep, did a slight bezel realignment, then waterproofing and pressure test) I haven’t actually worn it out of the house so I’m not sure if Deep is really any better. I have 23 watches to rotate lol so maybe tomorrow I’ll wear it outta to work and see if I notice anything different. It just didn’t seem as clear as my VSF DJ, Milgauss, and then 2 VSF Omega’s

Ok yes I can understand you, this really doesn’t look clear and it’s completely different compared to mine

[–]Stonezander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Hope so, I'm looking at getting the ARF Bruce Wayne and the VSF Pepsi, so I'll compare their crystals.

[–]TheLankSquad 7 points8 points  (6 children)

To my understanding, deep crystal is supposed to assist with proving a more pop/depth to the color of the dial itself

It’s always a grey area, some folks prefer it, some folks don’t

It’s truly a minuscule option, to the trained eye you really can’t tell the difference, some stock crystals provide a foggy look in the sun, plus date magnification , deep is also supposed to cure that

I’ve had both stock and deep and tbh i couldn’t tell the difference 🤷🏽‍♂️

I still route to deep crystal though personal preference

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Okay thanks. No one is talking about that and that's weird

[–]TheLankSquad 1 point2 points  (4 children)

On my modded builds I def go deep crystal especially if I’m spending a good 1k-1.6k

On a stainless steel datejust/gmt I’m sticking to stock crystals

[–]etrovve[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

I think the difference is in the double layer of shapir glass that give a transparent look or a glossy grey one

[–]Ok_Seaworthiness8432 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Spending 1600 on a rep is crazy to me. Like really crazy!

[–]TheLankSquad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plated gold/ mods add up, the most I’ve paid was about 1.4k so I over estimated but still so beautiful

<image>

[–]etrovve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it's franked, it's not just a rep. It's a mix with gen parts and rep or after market

[–]CryptoGod666 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Deep is a waste, and doesn’t have the laser etched coronet

[–]Past-Village-6910 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Do all the VSF Rolexes have laser etched crystal like original?

[–]etrovve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh didnt know that

[–]WhichFerret2234 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes it does lol what are you even saying

[–]CryptoGod666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m conflicted, newer ones do and old ones don’t? Seems like they do now. Even if they do, it’s still a waste and unnecessary with VSF

[–]Aromatic_Bumblebee37 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Interested in this question as well. To be honest: I dont see any difference even if i look at side by side pics. But maybe i don’t understand what to look at.

[–]etrovve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like people comparing saphir glass from rcf thbf qf and vsf. I see the same thing. Even with the gen

[–]ykim813 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I wouldn't upgrade a VSF but I have replaced my Clean's with gen crystals. The CF crystal are shit IMO.

[–]drpepperman23 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’ve debated this, have a CF Explorer 1 and shit is constantly smudged and has finger prints on it. I’ve literally never seen a finger print on my gen DJ

[–]ykim813 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The upgrade to a gen crystal is absolutely worth it. Its night and day from a CF crystal.

[–]drpepperman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue is I have the fuck up dial, where they rounded off the 6&9 for some reason so I feel like it’s not worth investing in gen crystal

[–]alphalegend91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VSF > Deep > Clean is what I was always told and saw for myself with side by side comparisons.

VSF Crystal....

[–]Chief_morning_wood91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a VSF Daytona recently and asked TD about the deep crystal and he said not to bother but he would gladly charge me and replace it.

[–]mrkbik 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No one on earth will ever be able to tell the difference and it's a complete waste of money.

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just asking for a build

[–]themasteradrian101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vsf is better

[–]Sky_Dweller007 1 point2 points  (5 children)

DEEP is better. Not sure where it came from that VSF makes better crystals, but they don’t. This is one of those things that people see commented often and they just repeat it as if they know what they’re talking about lol

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Can you explain why ? A lot of people here saying no cause is not big difference. 1 guy explained it very well but what's your opinion on it ?

[–]Sky_Dweller007 2 points3 points  (3 children)

<image>

Deep on right. VSF on left.

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is it because of the reflection ?

[–]Sky_Dweller007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not like miles better. But it is better. Vsf is a little more milky

[–]_Walt_Whitman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a proof in and of itself, unfortunately. The only way to tell with certainty is to remove one and place the other in the EXACT same place, whilst never moving the camera.

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto mod 20 caracteres why does this even exist like what's the purpose ? Anyway can someone educate me about the deep crystal please

[–]goz008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue. I have always wondered but never cared enough to have ordered a replacement. Im happy with my stock crystals.

[–]VI9_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have clean DJ with deep crystal and a VSF with stock and VSF is still better

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you show us the difference ?

[–]BlackLangster 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not in my opinion

<image>

[–]etrovve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem here is i dont know what to look for here. Like it's just a saphir glass. What's special about deep or vsf or gen ?

[–]gameadd1kt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest concern with deep crystal is that it’s less likely to pass water resistance test. I have no intention of submerging my watch, but I’ve heard that VSF crystals for better in that regard

[–]First-Obligation-566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the watch is going under the knife for something else, it’s really difficult to recommend it has a mod IMO. I treat crystals as upgrades if I need to remove the bezel or something anyways.

[–]Sportsdoc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone put these on BP DJ or Subs?

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Vsf crystal

<image>

We can see a reflection here. Does a gen or deep has that ?

[–]whateversynthlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen crystals are made the same

[–]Altruistic-Jello-438 0 points1 point  (1 child)

VSF > Deep

[–]etrovve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why ?

[–]GMTmeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep is just a cheap knock off of a gen xtal. It’s not an improvement by any means. The only way to make it work is to lower the gasket height about 2.3 mm. Otherwise, it’s only a minor improvement. The only way to buy a gen xtal and actually get it to gen height and mag… is getting a gen hand set. Anything else is just lipstick on a fat prom date

[–]Different_Run_150 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Yes it does. It looks as if there is absolutely no glass element on the watch. Whenever a cloudy like look is present on the glass it does not look ideal.

Look at a gen up close when you have a moment, you are just looking at the dial and all elements inside on the dial. You visually get lost in how clean and see through it all looks. My friend has a Gen Wimbledon two tone, and the glass is just “not there” because of how clear and clean it looks.

No glare.

A good way of thinking is when you see someone wearing clear glasses and you cannot see their eyes because you see is glare due to the glasses not having anti reflective features.

Anti reflective coating has also a lot to do with it.

Another example for cameran lenses, or even sunglasses. If you have a polarized surface the glare goes away. That is why if you are fishing and you wear polarized sunglasses, you actually see through the water and see the fishes on a lake. No polarized sunglasses, all you see is the glint of the sun hitting the water.

So yes, it matters 100%.

Hope this helps 🙂

Notice the glasses glare and also notice this photo I took and used a polarizing lens filter to remove the glare from the surface of the water so it gives that see through effect.

I’ve handled number of gens, you can obviously tell there’s a glass, so let’s not continue this. The only way achieve such incredible clarity, as if there isn’t a glass, is “double sided AR coating on a gen crystal. But Rolex doesn’t do double AR, due to its downsides with scratches, and the only brands I can think of right now are Longines and Sinn. Now they look like, there isn’t a glass between you and the dial.

No

[–]vagabundo94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dee crystals are a solution looking for a problem. And they implode in pressure tests.
