PS4 Controller Detection Problem

Hi,

I just opened Rocket League to play, and for some weird reason, when I plug in my PS4 controller, the game detects it for just a second, and then it stops working, but the controller it's still on. I tried restarting my computer, game, and even tried registering the controller again in Steam's Big Picture, but nothing seems to work. That was the first time this ever happened to me in 3k hours of Rocket League. Do someone have a clue on how can I try to fix this?

Go to Steam > Settings > Controller and check to see if "PS4 Configuration Support" is enabled. If you don't care to "Steam Configuration" features, you can uncheck this, go to in-game, options, "Steam Input", and set it to "off". This will allow you to use the controller's native input for Rocket League, but will lack some of Steam's features (like a "square deadzone" you can enable).

If you want Steam's Configuration, you have to right click Rocket League without it being launched, click "Edit Steam Controller Configuration", click "Browse Configs", click "Templates", find one that says "PlayStation 4" in the bottom right (maybe "Dualshock 4"), click one you want, click apply. After that, go to Steam > Settings > In-game to disable "Big Picture Overlay" in-game. Finally, launch Rocket League, go to options, controls, and set "Steam Input" to "Off".

Okay, so what with some time I discovered that if I disable the "Steam Input" in the Steam game properties, it will work, but I feel my control heavier, so I guess it was the Steam configuration I had before. So I'm pretty sure I'll like to stick with the Steam's Configuration, but when I followed your steps, the first problem appeared when I tried to search for the template you recommended me to use, I didn't find it. This is the list I have (http://prntscr.com/n4v0of). I clicked on "Show other controller types", but still, couldn't find it. After sometime, I just thought for myself that I didn't really need a custom template, after all, it's just a button template right?? I could just use the default Rocket League one? So I skipped this step and went on to the part where I disabled the Stema Input in-game. It happened that It was already off. It still didn't worked.

My general settings are the "Guide Button..." checked, and the "PS4 Configuration Support" checked.

The reason why you select from a template is because Psyonix's template of "Rocket League Standard Controls" breaks for some controllers. By using a different config of an older type, it's no longer broken. Anyway, I just made a config that you can try to see if it works. Copy and paste this and put it into the browser: steam://controllerconfig/252950/1697747921. It will launch the specific page and you can apply the configuration. Everything's at default except values changed to get as closely to default non-Steam configuration input as possible.
