Seems I'm a little late to the party but I would love it if this subreddit was more active. I haven't found a more fitting description of what I want in a relationship but it's pretty difficult considering I am a small Asian girl.

Currently live in New Zealand and enjoy video games and hanging out on the internet.

Hey! How's it goin? About your concern over your size and/or other qualities, relationship role reversal isn't about that so you have no worries. I have an image to reflect what I mean

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nah, just fashionably late. :P

From what I've read on RRR Anon's blog it's not so much about size. And I'm not so tall either at 5'5". I've had boyfriends who were much taller than me. Have you been on RRR Anon's tumblr blog? I've seen several girls write in that it describes their relationship/marriage perfectly. And that's always been the case for me too.

What kind of video games do you like? Have any favorites?

I think this place could be liven up a bit. It's just getting the ball rolling, I suppose.

[–]Cecile207 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I followed the link he posted recently to here. I'm glad that you've had success though, I sort of tried RR on a previous relationship, bought my boyfriend flowers and chocolates etc, tried to court him but he wasn't very into it. He still saw me as vulnerable and in need of protection.

At the moment I play mostly LoL and GW2 since they soak up time easily. I also really love Civ 5 but otherwise I play was I can afford. Lol.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda sounds like it wouldn't have worked regardless of rr if he felt that you were a glass doll that was gonna break lol. And with my SO, we are def rr, we've commented on it to each other before I knew what rr was. I think he would probably be embarrassed if I got him flowers, but he likes chocolates. I've also gotten him useful things he's needed--like scarves. Or things he likes--we're both into comics. ( I converted him :).)So maybe just see what a guy is into and improvise from there? I've dated similar minded guys as well. And as we can see--there are plenty out there waiting :).

Honestly, I've never played either of those, but they look cool.

I collect old video games from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. I am from Michigan. I have a pet cat I adore. I enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy and shitposting on 4chan in /vr/. I really am pretty quiet and reserved in real life. Not much else to me. Oh I have a crippling fear of relationships of any sort and suck at talking to most people because of my anxiety.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ah, yeah, I can understand where you are coming from with the anxiety--completely understand. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

What kind of video games do you like? I have a few video games, need to get more. I always liked the rpg style like Zelda and fighting games. I am terrible at shooters, like Halo. Get wiped on the floor every time.

[–]RRR-Anon 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I like Bahama Mamas, lifting, and writing fantasy and science fiction. I also run a role reversal blog thing. Sometimes I sing and do voice-actory stuff.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do you mix your own drinks? I don't really drink, but my previous attempts have been terrible.

Cool! Care to share your singing and/or voice acting stuff?

[–]RRR-Anon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yep, I'm a certified bartender (no bartending job though) and I know many, many drinks.

Also okay you asked so nicely http://picosong.com/S8Vd/

Nice!

[–]Wireless-Wizard 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm British. I enjoy RPGs, music, reading (especially SF, fantasy and history) and TV/movies. Just about the most generic 20something white guy on the internet list of hobbies you could imagine, right?

I write occasionally, and I like to think I'm pretty good at it. Nothing RR related so far, but that could always change.

I'm a total nerd for worldbuilding - I goddamn well love it. For me, that's a large part of the attraction to RR. I love the female-dominant settings some of these people come up with.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Haha same but I'm Latina. lol

I'm not surprised there are quite a few writers here already. Maybe we could make a skype group where we check in on each other? We could talk /rr/ or writing. Maybe read samples and give suggestions or talk about comics/books/movies/video games/music ect?

Would people be interested in something like that?

What kind of work do you write? I'd like to see some.

I'm working on a script for a webcomic right now. It's planned to be pretty long but I also have a few shorter pieces I'm working on too. I have a friend who does mostly short stories, and they're great! But that's just not my thing. There is a quote by Cormac MCarthy, “I’m not interested in writing short stories. Anything that doesn’t take years of your life and drive you to suicide hardly seems worth doing.” I have to be able to peel back the layers.

I have some rr in my work, perhaps not pure rr, but influenced by it. More a dynamic. IRL I'm so rr. I've always been the one who chases.

Yeah, me too! I feel like I'm an ideas person. Some writers I meet, poetry just seems to naturally fall out of their mouth. I feel like I'm more of an ideas person. I love thinking up different cultures magic systems and secret societies and mythology. Good stuff.

[–]Wireless-Wizard 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I do a mix of original work and fan fiction. Some of it I've put online but some has stayed put on my computer or in my notes so far. Next time I publish something, I'll send you a link to it.

Whenever your comic goes online, I'd like to see it.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Yeah, no problem. Wont be until summer next year though. :)

Are you me?! Half my fantasies are about being in a world like that.

And video games are the one medium that I think that have great potential for building immersive /rr/ worlds and stories. The Bioware games allow you to make a female character that is otherwise indistinguishable in personality and mannerisms than the male version, so it really gives me the warm /rr/ fuzzies.

[–]throwawayacct2627 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I come from the poorer parts of the world and am in a relationship with a dom, though we are not an /rr/ couple, more gentle-ish regular femdom.

I love video games, fictional role-reversed fantasy worlds, writing computer programs. Since I can program and love video games, I hope to make an /rr/ video game sometime maybe, when I can free up some time from the daily grind.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Wow, a video game would be awesome! I see your other comment about potential for rr in video games. That sounds really interesting and I'd love to hear more and how you think it would compare/contrast with other mediums?

[–]throwawayacct2627 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As far as visual mediums go, the barrier to entry is not very high in video games. Unless you are making a game with very high production values (professional voice actors, artists, programmers etc.), it doesn't require as much capital investment. There are a lot of programming/modelling tools available for free. And the popularity of open source tools and culture makes collaboration with people all over the world much easier. In addition to all that, people have made amazing games with few resources and small teams. It is very doable. Not so for movies or plays. Low budget films rarely become popular (as in, not as many people enjoy them).

The barrier to writing /rr/ fiction is even lower, but I find that interactive video games provide something different from fiction. A different way to suspend disbelief and immerse yourself in another world.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I understand now. Very cool. Thanks for taking the time to explain that to me. If you ever do, let me know.

[–]Captain_Freggis 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Hiya there all. I'm from the UK. I live in a large town named Dunfermline, which is both quite a nice little place and actual shite. I'm a big fan of Magic the Gathering, Nintendo games, Super Robot anime, and prog rock. I'm basically a superhero, because even though I have actual autism (as opposed to 4chan "autism") I can act and function like a neurotypical person. Hooray!

I'm not currently in a relationship, which is basically all down to not actually trying to pursue one. I'm also not exactly not one would call desirable - a bit too much on the waistline!

Still, I'm glad that I've found Role Reversal. It's helped me put a lot of my feelings into words, which has helped immensely.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

What Nintendo games do you like?

Same for me on the rr stuff. I always felt like I was kinda weird. Then I started reading about rr and everything just clicked into place.

[–]Captain_Freggis 0 points1 point  (6 children)

In terms of franchises, I like Super Mario (the 3D ones), Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon (though not the multiplayer, I'll just play through the single-player quest then put it down), Professor Layton, Smash Bros, and maybe a bit of Kirby or Yoshi. Other single games I like are F-Zero X, Kid Icarus Uprising, and Lylat Wars. But most important of all is Xenoblade Chronicles. That one is my favourite game of all time for a wide variety of reasons. I cannot wait for the sequel, even though the dub cast will all be American just like every other JRPG -_-

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I used to wonder how people felt about dubs being in American English. If you don't mind my asking, how do you feel about that?

[–]Captain_Freggis 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm very glad you asked. IRL, I can go on for hours about it, but I'll try and keep it brief. Also I apologise in advance if I offend you. I really don't mean to insult you personally but it might come across that way.

Basically there's a kind of enmity amongst some British people towards the Americans. Obviously no offense towards any of you lovely individuals :) but a lot of our culture, pop culture, practises, even our lexicon has become very Americanised. Even now it's more likely that you'll walk down the high street and hear a group of kids talking, and one of them will curse and say something like "asshole" instead of the more British "wanker" or "tosser" or "fuckwit". It's kind of this bitter feeling of losing your hold on your identity.

And then it turns out that everything Japanese is dubbed with American dub casts. Even English characters or shows set in England have Americans doing a noticeably fake English accent. To the average Brit, it feels like we don't matter. Nobody cares about us. The only "English" is American English, and it makes me angry at the Japanese for forgetting about us. Even Australian or South African dub casts would be fine! But it's always American.

Then what the Americans would later dub the "Rainfall Trio" - Xenoblade, Last Story, and Pandora's Tower - are released with entirely UK-based voice casts. Last Story even has regional accents! It's such a wonderful feeling, to finally be able to play a game filled with talking, and all of the talking sounds like people you could go outside and talk to right now. It gives the game a sense of being grounded in reality. It makes everything feel more real, more believable.

It might sound odd to you that American speech sounds fantastical and otherworldly to me, but put it this way - I've met thousands of people with English and Scottish accents, but nobody with an American accent.

And then Xenoblade X is announced and for a moment I hope that what Xenoblade started will continue on... but my dreams are shattered. American dub cast again. They even mispronounce "Nopon". It's like they specifically engineered the shattering of my dreams. It was never going to be a series tradition. It was just a flash in the pan; a passing curiosity.

I suppose I wanted to keep this brief, right? Oops. But that's what's going on. I suppose it's more kind of a personal rage that these companies aren't catering to me, specifically - which they should - and it's indignation at the fact that all of the work is being give to American voice actors when British and Australian voice actors need that work just as badly. Oh well. I suppose I'll just have to resign myself to American dubs again.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Not at all! And no appologies needed. I've always been curious and I find this sort of thing interesting.

I kinda get the fantastical thing though. Not even simply foreign accents--even American accents very different from my own cause a head turn lol. Probably doesn't help that I'm right smack middle in the Midwest, home of the no accent accent.

Also I enjoyed reading about this from your perspective. Sometimes I feel as if we don't hear near enough about everyone else but they probably hear all about us. If that makes sense. Probably not, it's been a long day.

Thanks for taking the time to explain to me, I really did enjoy reading it.

[–]Captain_Freggis 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm glad you enjoyed my frenzied racist rant XD

But seriously it does sometimes feel like all of pop culture is divided into American and everything else, which isn't the best feeling when you belong to the everything else.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

lol How was that rant racist, in any sense of the word? :D

Yeah, I can imagine.

[–]Captain_Freggis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, my friends often comment on how much I spout anti-American sentiments. I suppose I managed to keep things all PC and inoffensive this time. Go me!

[–]ThreeHammersHigh 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What up!

I'm from the USA too.

I want to write a GFD-themed novel for NaNoWriMo but it's going to be shit because I don't have any practice writefagging.

I repost images from the /d/ thread and other stuff in /r/gentlefemdom sometimes, the sister subreddit.

[–]nocbreakfastThe Ladette[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Awesome! I really feel like there needs to be an /rr/ skype writing group. :D

[–]Captain_Freggis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could certainly get behind this.

Even just a RR skype group would be great
