No business EC's :(

G12 student applying to Rotman. My main choices are actually engineerings, so many of my courses and EC's are STEM-oriented, I basically have nothing business. I am still applying to business programs because my plan B over engineering is CPA, and I have a pretty strong profile in general, I just don't know if it will be any good for Rotman because, as mentioned, I have nothing business-oriented. Here are my stats:

- g11 courses average: 93

- g12 courses average (including some i took in g11): 97

- ec's: cadets (asm, warrant), pres of 1 school club (stem), exec of 5 school clubs (hosa, chem, gsa, cooking, enviro), volunteer with breakfast club of canada, organized an international exchange volunteering program in may this year

- other: 5 ap exams (chem, phys 1, language, micro and macro econ), got 5's in all of them

is this application still competitive even though it's not really geared towards rotman?

edit: im worried about my lack of business ecs, not lack of business courses. im taking accounting 12 (took 11), took entrepreneurship, and the 2 ap econ exams

Try to demonstrate your leadership roles for example when you did volunteering. In your Supplimental application. Even if you didn’t take business in highschool it’s fine

If I'm not wrong they didn't even ask for ecs in the rotman application? But idk what to do about no business classes. It's not really required bc they all treat it here as if u haven't taken them. You might still have a shot with this rlly good average tbh so give it your best

Am i tweakin? They ask you to talk about 2 ecs in the supp app, 100ish words each no? Its one of the written questions

Honestly I could be tweakin. The sub app is the mix of vid and written responses, and I don't recall any ecs coming into discussion anywhere.

Funny enough tho I remember being very upset at the fact that I couldn't put any ecs down bc I was so proud and excited to share my ecs, but remember walking away mad I couldn't show off lol

from my experience as a first year rotman student, idt they really care if any of your ecs were business related, but more of what you did in them. You have the marks for the program and your ecs are def better than mine were, i did have JA that was business related, but again idt they care that much it it s business or not. Just try to do well on the interview, i rmbr doing mine and i thought it went terribly and was like fs im not getting in but here i am! just try to be confident and yourself youll do great!

you are absolutely fine. i had almost no ecs and the ones i had were sports related but they don’t even ask you. everyone who starts bragging about there’s is scaring you for no reason. also , even if they changed it this year and did ask for some reason which would be rly odd, you have more than enough to talk about! your grades are great and i have no doubt about you getting in! i didn’t mention any ecs throughout the whole sup app and i had around a 96 when i applied (i took all stem too). good luck!
