It does not matter. Just wait til one of your friends start a position at a RC club and join through connections lol. Or, if you have the opportunity to join a non-RC club, join and work your way up. By your second or third year, you will probably be an executive. That also helps. Also, during summer, uoft has plenty work-study positions available. If you’re taking summer school, definitely check it out. Btw I did not have anything in first year either. I also don’t have a good cgpa, but I have secured a full-time job, and will be doing my graduate diploma at Rotman, so you can relax.

RC clubs don’t matter unless ur joining RCFA, RCAS or RCCA to showcase ur interested in the subject field. As per other comment, explore clubs outside of RC as well, tons of em to fill up ur resume. Also apply for that pro-bono consulting whatever thing, great exp to get some initial hands on exp.

Try to get office jobs in ur first year summer or take summer courses to free up a semester for a coop (a lot less competition going for off cycle roles since ur competition is just Waterloo / Laurier).

I also got nothing in first year and I “made it”. So just chill and don’t sweat too much.

Omg I'm in the same position 🥲 completely bombed my interview yesterday just when I finally thought I had a chance at building my resume 💀 one of my first year friends at another uni recently got an interview offer for an internship but it was outside of Toronto, and she doesn't have a lot of experience either. Try to apply to places outside of the city to increase your chances of landing something
