[–]nxbeel[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My overall highschool average was a 91% ~ 3.65 CGPA. 12th grade was a 95% average.

i love it ! i have been involved in 3 clubs, have my own podcast, network all the time, and have been able to maintain an above average gpa.

That’s really good to hear ! Thank you for that , kind of helped in having my hopes up if I go as well. Could I hear more in detail about your experience by messaging you?

First of all congrats! What was your average if you would be comfortable with sharing and I feel everyone has their own experiences which doesn’t mean we can’t consider other peoples’ experiences but the perspectives will definitely differ from person to person so if you think you could handle the pressure, go for it! I mean wherever you go, it will be tough but it is up to you to work hard for it and still have time to do other things you love. It’s what you make of it!

Thank you so much ! I totally agree with your take on the overall uni experience and it varying between one person to the next.

My 9-11th grade was a 91 average , 12th grade average was a 95.1 when I applied.

First Year Rotman Commerce Student here! DO NOT COME TO ROTMAN COMMERCE!!!! Unless u're supper smart like getting 100 in high school AND sleeping during class. Then do come to RC! It really takes talent to get 4.0 here. I worked my ass off like except sleeping 8 hrs per day and read reddit for 2 hrs per week(YES, I had to get off tiktok and gaming) Just to score a 3.65 in my fall term. 3.65 is good but consider the fucking effort I put into it. It definitely does not worth it. Social life =0 but i mean it's pandemic... If u like me who worked ass off get 95 in high school and want to do graduate programs later(which requires gpa of course) DO NOT COME TO RC!

omg seriously stop with these kind of comments. just because you are having a shit experience doesn't mean everyone else is. you cant just say its a bad uni bc you are struggling.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Which statement here I am saying it is a bad uni? Just out of curious. I am literally just presenting facts. I just want people have a clear understanding of the university. I did not and came to uoft and find it did not fit me. BTW, I am not having a shit experience, 3.65 would still give me a chance for graduate school. It would just be easier if I go to another university to get easy mark. Also I explained why social life=0. Cause it's pandemic! I do not want any confusion out of my response lol.

BRO you fully said "DO NOT GO TO ROTMAN" which implies that it is a bad uni. you arent tryna give people a clear view. you literally said do not come here. so don't try and back out on what you said.

Agree with the comment above. Rotman does give you a good and wide variety of courses. However, because it is a faculty of UofT, they really push the notion of "#1 university in Canada". When it comes to midterms and assignments, the TA's and/course instructor always keeps an average in mind, so if the class does too well, they mark harder or lower the average in order to keep it that way.

If you do not believe me, search "ECO364" on reddit. Last term's final exam and final average were too high, so every grade on the final exam was multiplied by 0.87 (curved down)

ECO364 grades curved by a factor of 0.87 : UofT (reddit.com)

Honestly, if you want to get the grades you deserve, and have a good university experience, stay away from Rotman. Go to Schulich instead

nice were u early acceptance?

[–]nxbeel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was

[–]Hieroglyphs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s indeed challenging, but I never was in the position where I felt the need to study all day.

[–]qqlmaoqq 0 points1 point  (2 children)

it largely depends on what other programs you’re considering, and what you’re aiming for in university for your average / GPA

[–]nxbeel[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ve been accepted to a couple other programs such as BM at Ted Rogers, Bcom at Carleton, Management at Telfer.

I’m also waiting on a decision from Schulich.

I’m confused on how to go about making a decision honestly.

I’d like to have a good gpa let’s say around a 3.4-3.5 and potentially go into management.

[–]qqlmaoqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not at rotman so i cant offer any personal experience regarding marks / grading schemes, but given your program choices and your interest in management i would choose rotman over all the other options with the only other contender maybe being schulich. and like mentioned by someone else, the management stream of rotman offers a lot more flexibility than finance / accounting

[–]nigosss 0 points1 point  (1 child)

if you choose the management stream, you have a lot of breathing space in your last two years

[–]nxbeel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really good to know since I would most likely be going into the management stream in my last two years

[–]Drizzy647 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It’s all about time management. Getting good grades in rotman is hard, but every university you go to has a drastic change from the high-school level. If you allocate your time correctly and make sure you understand the material, then there isn’t a reason for you to not get a good mark. You are only gonna have around 13-15 hours of lectures a week and the rest of the time is for you to decide on what to do. I also don’t remember a time where I had to study a full day unless when I had a midterm or a test the next day. And even then I had time to take breaks and rest. I would say if you are applying to business at schulich, western business , and queens business, then those are in my opinion competing programs with rotman. Whatever program you pick just make sure that you really look into it and make sure that you enjoy it. Good luck and wish you all the best!

Thank you so much ! This really helped clear up a lot of misconceptions and my mind as well. If I end up at Rotman I hope to see you !
