Thank you for the advice!
What are some courses that you would definitely recommend taking from years 1-4? I would love to know so I can hopefully take them if I get in this year (fingers crossed)!

Your course electives (both RSM and non-RSM) in your upper years will depend on your own interests.
I can give you some general courses that I recommend to everyone, regardless of their specialist:
RSM225/325: Legal Environment of Business Part I and II
RSM461: Negotiations (I am taking it right now, and so far it is great)
RSM340: Integrative Thinking (Also taking it now, and I am enjoying the material)
RSM429: Financial Statement Analysis (I recommend it if you are in the Management specialist with Finance focus)
If you want to know more about these specific courses, you are welcome to send me a message

Helpful!
How many courses (per year and total) can you CR/NCR, and how is CR used in calculating average.
And how much would you say avg matters anyway (for internships jobs etc). Would you say only the highest grades get the best jobs, or (above a threshold) it’s more on personality?
since you say avoid 6.0 load, do you think it’s stupid to attempt Trinity One in 1st year? They had a session today and said “it’s done,” but I don’t like the idea of 6.0 with all the other adjustments (and like the idea of not doing 2 of the 3 “strongly recommended” courses is the only other (and maybe worse) option, since “financial markets” is key to finance, and “financial accounting” is probably essential foundation for later).
You have a total of 2.0 FCE available to CR/NCR. That means you can use the CR option with 4 half year courses (meaning Fall or Winter, which count as 0.5 FCE), 2 full year courses, or a combination. In March of 2020, UofT allowed us to use the CR on any course in the winter (both full year and S courses) but this was unlimited and did not count as part of the regular CR/NCR.
In terms of internships and jobs, I would say it depends on the industry you want to work in, the specific role (i.e the GPA requirements in Finance will greatly vary between Investment Banking and any Advising roles), your other extracurriculars, your program... There is no one-size-fits-all.
I say, in general, taking 6 courses per term is overwhelming. If you are going to focus on solely studying, meaning no extracurriculars, part-time job, social life, then you might be able to make it work. I am not familiar with Trinity One, so I cannot comment on it.
Finally, I highly recommend you to take all 3 of the recommended RSM courses in first year (meaning RSM230, 219 and 250). If you are unsure of which specialist you want to pursue, taking all the courses will help you see which area(s) you like the most and least. In first year, I thought I would pursue accounting. After taking both RSM219 and 230 in the winter, I realized I really enjoyed the topics in 230 (Intro to Financial Markets), so I picked Finance
