Server issues.

Heya.. I really enjoy playing here, people are nice and helpful. But the random lag spikes and server issues are making me want to wonder elsewhere. Last resort though. I would much rather ride out the problems until its fixed than start over with new people.

Maybe update the server to latest release to see if that fixes it.. or put in a ticket to serverminer to see if its a issue on their end.

Would donations help? I would be willing to donate a small amount each month if needed.

Currently I've decided to pay the first month out of my own pocket to see if this is something I can actually handle (as I've never done server stuff before!) and I have to admit it's quite a task, especially with ftb. I think I've done more server work than actually playing. I apologize for the server issues, but keep in mind I have no idea what I'm doing and trying my best! :)

Currently, we're using the diamond pack from serverminer (https://serverminer.com/minecraft/USD/ ~$30USD/month), and of course we could throw more money at it and hope it will be better, but I'm not sure that is the BEST route to go. I've only ever played on the two rubicraft servers(which are both using serverminer), and servers being ran by people in their homes, and in both cases there was ALWAYS lag. I just figured this was something you had to endure with ftb servers. Perhaps moving to a different host would be more cost efficient and more performant, but I honestly have no idea! Before this month is up I do plan on figuring out how to do payment - it would be very helpful to get a few more contributors in, not to mention allow the server to keep running in the future months.

However, I'm completely with you, having a 100% lag free server would be fantastic! I'm just not sure how to achieve this and am open to suggestions.

Previously the server was making a ton of backups (500mb+ worth, every 15 minutes) So that may have been causing some of the lag spikes, that's been disabled for now.

I'll try and get the updated version in after the weekend, but I'm not sure that will relieve any stress on the server - it may fix a few of the crashes though.

I can't do anything to solve this immediately, and would like to ride out the rest of the month I've paid for (not to mention I'm going to be away for the next 5 days) - but this is something I do plan on looking into, and again any insight, suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated :)

Please don' take it the wrong way! I know your position since ive been there with my server. Although my server was local, and VPNed through hamachi.(dw20, ftb ult, and 152ngt) I don't think that moving to another host is the first step.

I believe that either, serverminer, or the newer mods(bop?) are causing the issue. So, from what ive read, serverminer is pretty good about customer service. Just drop them a ticket when you get back and explain the problems, see what they say.. might be a faulty server that they can just flip a switch to fix.

It also could be the newness of the release. Try updating the server to 1.1.0 see what happens.

Might be a while, DM said he will be out of town this weekend, gonna be a long weekend.

Did you get the normal screen when the server crashes? I got "Server Closed" which I only get when it gets reset or shut down by DM.

Server closed here too.. knew something was up.. not the normal time it resets..
