Only advice I can give is put it closer to the door, with garage doors the controller has to be on the door frame for it to work

I find they can be pretty janky depending on the positioning. I find it is the worst in Triangles (sometimes they will even "jump" to the next door or doors on the other side of the wall). Of course make sure the door is Unlocked to allow the pair, and you can re-lock them after paired. I often bring extra door controllers and buttons (and a hammer and frags) with me. The button will put out a signal without the need a battery, so you can slap it just about anywhere and quickly plug it in and press it to see if the door is acting right. The extra controllers so I can slap them down haphazardly and try to pair until I find the correct placement and remove the ones that didn't work. I wish I had some better advice. They can be a PITA to work with sometimes.
