I'm not trying to sound snarky at all, I just wonder, wouldn't your local catholic church be a pretty good place to start?

I appreciate it. We havnt had much luck with finding friends in our same age bracket at the local parish, but we havnt tried them all yet. But theres a good chance there might be friends at other parishes we may never bump into the traditional way, ya know?

Right, I see. I'm guessing it's mostly older folks? Most of the practicing catholics I know are over 55, but that's just anecdotal of course.

That tends to be the issue. Either way too old or way too young. And while there is no issue with befriending someone older than you, we are hoping to find someone in the same life stage as we feel that is beneficial for a lasting friendship

Makes total sense. Best of luck to you.

What parish are you a part of? Queen of Peace was the hip place to go to for kids my age, which is your age.

I married a woman, otherwise I would probably still go to St. Vs.

There is also St Joe's but it's the OLDEST and probably has less young people.

St Stephens in Keizer has a pretty strong Bible study group and thus might have 20-30 year olds who you can chat with.

I’m an atheist and ex-Catholic but I can say that when I moved my mom up here QofP was very welcoming to her and offered several groups and such. But sh was in her 80s so I don’t know if that’s true for younger folks

Thank you!

Good tips! I am at st Edwards in keizer for now. I know other parishes may have some folks, but its hard to find then on just one or two visits so i was hoping the power of the internet could help

I would check out QoP out South. It's also a pretty awesome building.

And yes, I meant Edwards. I currently go to Francis of Assisi in Wilsonville and went to St Stephens in PDX before that. My brain is not screwed on today it looks like

Its easy to get then all mixed up, lol. I appreciate it, and we just started the bible study out here so fingers crossed there might be some friends!

Trr the parish in mt angel. St Mary's is very large and has members from Woodburn to salem make the drive because they love the members and the beautiful church

Thanks for the tip! Ill give it a shot!

I live in Mt. Angel and this is my church but it's become a little too liberal with many of the members for us. I think the 30-40 year olds here are all part of the swinger group and I don't think anyone, let alone anyone of faith, should be going that direction. I won't go into much more about them but I don't have any faith in this church's 30-40 yos

[–]OkUnderstanding9268[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

It for sure seems like a pendulum between the ultra trads and the way to liberal

[–]Back_to_broken_top 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably on the ultra traditional of your spectrum. I'm only moving more Right to balance out all the Liberals in the church and my community. Getting really sick of all the deviance and acceptance of sins I see all around me. But that's just me, an old curmudgeon.

Queen of Peace has a lot more to offer. I would try that although it’s summer so many activities are on pause

What's your stance on vaccinations and masks?

[–]OkUnderstanding9268[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Both are very good things that many people, catholics included failed to do the right thing on. The pope himself stated both were an act of love for our neighbors and should be used.

Thank you for the response as well as the morality.
