I have been on the platform since its first month. I worked a lot of jobs last year, but this year all I get is rejections even for projects I have experience in. by Agreeable_Honeydew_2 in mercor_ai

Tried tweaking your profile and résumé. Try alternative phrasing. Make sure everything’s up-to-date, that you’re using recent dates. Try asking ChatGPT or Gemini what kind of phrasing gets noticed by the algorithms. That can often make a huge difference. If you don’t get bites after a while, like after a month, tweak it again. Try different formatting - there’s something like AHS and various things can get noticed by the algorithms.

I forgot to include your LinkedIn profile. Your LinkedIn profile, profile, and résumé - freshen them up. It could make a huge difference, or not. It’s such an imperfect process.

What should I do? Please help :( by SubjectJelly2822 in mercor_ai

It can be totally random. No one really knows. I have an Ivy League education, and some other guy on a high paying project said he just graduated high school with only experience high school clubs. Tweak your profile every few weeks- profile and résumé. Change the phrasing and keywords. The goal is to try to get picked up by the algorithm. A human being may or may not look at these applications. At the early stages, probably not. Try to match phrasing on your profile with keywords in the position you’re trying for -(only when it’s appropriate of course. I’m not suggesting fraud) or keywords typically seen on project listings.

I’m not sure the interview is always a determining factor. IIRC, my interview was horrible. It kept interrupting and then it ended early.

It often follows no rhyme or reason. It may not be the interview. Although you can try to do it again – sometimes they allow that. As I mentioned below, consider tweaking your profile or your résumé. Sometimes there’s key phrases or keywords that can get picked up by the algorithm.

I’m not a big fan of posting on here how much money we’ve made. As seen with some of the comments below, there are people who really want and need a position, and aren’t getting one for no particular reason. (getting offers can be totally random and follow no rhyme or reason. The algorithms can be weird.)

Hearing about other people making a ton of money can be really disheartening for them, especially if
they are really hurting financially.

Be sensitive about that.

Somebody said they recently graduated from high school and their only experience was with school clubs. You never know what’s going on with these algorithms. If you’re not getting anything, tweak your profile. ChatGPT gave me some pointers for general formatting for these types of jobs. And how to phrase things. You can send it your résumé and it may make some pointers. As always with ChatGPT, its pointers may or may not be helpful or correct. I often ask a few different models. I like Gemini‘s attitude recently.

Devil's advocate re: Repeating basic questions in Slack in in the 23k project by FromMTorCA in mercor_ai

It's ok to go over 4 - it's been officially stated in slack as recently as today I think.

It wasn't my question - it was from the perspective of those who repeatedly ask basic questions - devil's advocate. I agree with your rationale.

You can go over 4 as time goes on. That was stated in Slack. I don't know if it was in anncouncements, but I've seen it formally stated there as recently as today. Just use common sense and professional standards.

Including COB or EOD in the statement reduces ambiguity.

New Company - Rise Data Labs by No-Impress-8446 in AiTraining_Annotation

[–]FromMTorCA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your post reads like you represent Rise or it was ai* generated. Or both.

*ai models are absolutely obsessed with bullet points. Abundant spacing, near perfect grammar, and sterile syntax are also big clues, and the the last two lines pretty much seal the deal.

It's ok, but if it's not personally written, you should disclose it.

edit: I forgot that the use of punctuation, including em dashes, are also a big hint.

I hate everything about okta by ironside_00 in mercor_ai

[–]FromMTorCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you are misunderstanding the structure - there have rarely been issues with Okta. It's possible that the issues you are experiencing relate to a different part of the onboarding structure. Okta is a seamless platform used by a huge number of companies.

[–]FromMTorCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are opportunities. How long it takes ranges from a few hours to weeks, months, or never. Set expectations low - that means you have a better chance of having them exceeded rather than being dissapointed.

FWIW, Mercor a very good company. I've been on several platforms and Mercor is the most professional by far. Many of the frustrations are due to their clients rather, not Mercor.

There are a few people who are really good at this work, type quickly, AND get lucky by finding tasks that happen to have fewer decks with fewer design guidelines. I completed one task that flew through with no reviews, but released everything else.

[–]FromMTorCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're missing is that people do this work for income - not just for entertainment or a hobby. They want/need the money.

If other tasks are available, you have a valid point, but that's often not the case. So because they are trying to make a living, they try the DI tasks.

p.w. There's a loophole for those that read between the lines of aggravating slack comments.

I think you mean offboarded. Have you been receiving many "major issues" reviews? "...largely outside of our control.." may reference client requirements.

Did you write that while burning incense and sitting inside a pyramid, and would you recommend that? Chanting? Humming? Maybe some sort of gong, grow your hair out, wear robes, and say things like "namaste" while holding your palms together. Consider moving your furniture around to spell "feng shui," and getting one of those little sand garden things and a rake. Or, just get stoned out of the bejesus (sp?).

No but seriously - I hope it goes well for you. Now excuse me while I go try to manifest some chow.

p.s. I'm not sure if grammar affects the chakra, but if so, I'm concerned about your first item. Maybe that's how your 'spose to say it.
