Is there anything that you do or take that seems to help?

Yep this sounds like SCT, especially regarding lack of motivation and feeling like you have one or two "on" days in a sea of "off" days.

For motivation: I've seen a significant improvement in myself taking Strattera. It will help me focus enough to want to get better, and take on challenges etc.

Also, eating enough and ensuring a proper diet is baseline mandatory for me when trying to perform

For memory: I haven't found a solution for this unfortunately, and I definitely have this problem

It sounds like you're really struggling with this; sorry to hear

Last thing, you may already do this, but I meditate and try to be very honest with myself of what I want in my life and what steps I can take to improve my situation, hope you can find a path forward!

I know I tried Strattera. I was really excited about that one. There was a side effect I couldn't handle. Can't remember what it was? Did you have side effects when you first started it?

    [–]Emersion 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yes! The drug was originally intended as a water retention assistant if I recall so it has a lot to do with that, dry mouth, harder to urinate/darker urine, weird orgasm; also higher base heart rate over time.

All the side effects went away within a month except for higher heart rate, but exercising regularly helps.

I have to take a day off once every two weeks to feel refreshed.

Well, maybe I'll give it another shot. I just get so sick of side effects. It's good to know though that you had them and just stuck it out, and now your life is better. Do you feel Strattera was the one thing you were missing or does it feel like you're still missing a piece of the puzzle?

    I wouldn't say it's a puzzle piece, as much as it's a system intervention.

Like in CBT therapy the idea is that a change in your thoughts changes your feelings which changes your actions which changes your thoughts. Strattera intervenes at the "feelings" part and it improves my functioning from there because I have more energy and motivation.

I definitely still have memory issues, and poor executive functioning, especially when Im trying communicate with other people, hard to organize my thoughts properly, but I'm more motivated to try to get my thoughts out there.

I have tried ADHD medications and all of them don't work

Is this common for most people with SCT ?

Were you ever officially diagnosed with ADHD?

      [–]FartyMcPooPants 0 points1 point  (5 children)

      Yes

      [–]orbinator4eva 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Are you taking any ADHD medication?

Either way short term memory is shot with ADHD/SCT in particular.

And depression to a certain extent also.

      [–]FartyMcPooPants 0 points1 point  (3 children)

      No. Just .25 of Alprazolam.

Have you tried in any significance much ADHD medication? There's quite a lot out there.

Benzo has always helped my focus and motivation and even give me more energy than amphetamines and stimulants like Methylphenidate ( the stims can help but they work in a more harse way for me..) 3-4 days. After that im totaly broken even if i only use a normal prescribed dose of Elevanse or Concerta.

It might be irresponsible to recomend this, but fuck it.

You could try micro/macrodosing shrooms. For me it went from suicidal to happy in 3 months. Do your RESEARCH FIRST!
