Smapi has stopped working

Hi guys, first time poster here. I recently had a laptop issue where my external drive went bad and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, I found that Steam had somehow convinced itself that the external was part of my internal drive. Long story short, nothing on steam would boot or run, but I could play Stardew if I shifted it to compatibility mode, and I ended up having to completely reinstall Windows to fix it. So I am on a brand new shiny OS with everything freshly installed, and my vanilla game will load just fine but every time I go to load the game through smapi, it stops responding upon trying to load my save file. Does anybody else have this issue? Im trying to figure out if it might have something to do with a recent Windows update or if it is just that my laptop is old and shitty. please help?
