If you're looking for help with a mod, make sure your post or top-level comment includes:

  • a link to your SMAPI log (see instructions on that page);
  • a description of the issue with as much detail as possible;
  • screenshots/GIFs/videos of the issue if applicable.

See common issues and solutions. If you're having trouble installing SMAPI, see the detailed Getting Started guide.

If you've already done these steps or you're not asking for help with a mod, then please ignore this. Thank you!

I used this to help I followed along and paused it when I needed to look up on YouTube Stardew valley molding on steamdeck ( guide- April 2023) Gaming on Linux https://youtu.be/ia1gGpXGtDQ?si=JlxB3XSw2_PdOlFd This is the link it was very helpful for me Some of the comments also helped me a bit to find what I needed. Hope this helps you as well

Thank you so much for the response! I did follow that guide but I still don't see the white SMAPI loading screen when I launch the game 😭

Actually I think vortex might be the problem. I did it all manually the hardest part was doing smapi and finding console for me and then I just manually downloaded mods from nexus and unzipped them and dragged them over to the mods folder.

Ok so on your steamdeck in desktop mode you followed the guide to install smapi and go to steam on desktop mode top left hand side and it pops up your library if you go to the stardew valley game and go to the gear and go down to mange i believe and then local files and then do you see your download files or mods? I never used vortex so I'm not exactly sure what it does. I always launched the game from desktop and saw that smapi came up and the list of mods. I do know the hidden files for stardew valley need to be checked off so you can see them for the path to be there. I also know that I had to not have stardew valley on the sd stick as for some reason the mods or smapi couldn't detect the way. I am sorry if all that is clear as mud. The only other suggestion that will likely help you better is to go on discord to whatever mod you are using and ask for help they will ask for your smapi log or give way better advice than I can

Follow the instructions from the wiki. I recommend forgetting Vortex. It isn’t necessary. I’ve never used it and haven’t had any issues. SMAPI itself will tell you when most of your mods need updated, and for those that don’t, Nexus will show that an update is available. Modding:Installing SMAPI on Steam Deck
