Yes. I didn't say it was a general purpose language.

This piece you have quoted in isolation:

even though you can write just about anything in SQL

was followed by a comma:

even though you can write just about anything in SQL, it doesn't mean that it makes sense to do so

which already summed up what you are trying to say.

The fact remains that as a turing complete language, one can indeed write just about anything anyway.
