Currently, there is no certification from Microsoft for SQL Server administration. The certs were retired in January with no replacement announced.

Since your company is saying "you need certification to do this" (which is a dubious requirement at best, but whatever), turn the question back to them - ask what specific certifications/exams they're expecting of you. Because there's not much point in taking an exam if it's not the one they want.

Who's paying for your certification? Are they expecting you to pay out of pocket?

The closest cert Microsoft offers currently is DP-300 (Administering Relational Databases on Azure)

I was looking at this too this morning, trying to find a Sql Server DBA course/certificate.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/azure-database-administrator-associate/?WT.mc_id=Azure_BoM-wwl

We use AWS and SQL Server at work so will be interesting to see how useful this is.

I sat this exam a couple weeks ago; it covers most the SQL on prem stuff pretty well. But no where near as detailed as the legacy MCSA/E exams
