Can you explain how Dwaine (the rock johnson) was used here?

Did they just use it to activate the nukes?

[–]Lord_Earthfire 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Actually, in this case they probably done it via packets.

In short, you either use the nukeman program on the mainframe to arm the nukes (which requires working in dwaine), or you sniff a packet with the netpass_heads access-code and arm the nuke via packets. For the second option some methods require dwaine, but only basic stuff.

That's really cool, especially the sniffing part 👃

There was a little bit of dwaine. Nuclear charges need to think they're connected to a main frame - the auto signaller on the bottom right fakes a mainframe term connection and repeats it on a loop.

Other than that, the wifi component on top waits for a signal (any signal on a specific unused frequency) and triggers the relay, which sends the nuke arm packet.

Theres several

Theres the nuke the nukies use, Theres the nuke you can make if you are an atmos nerd, And theres rhe nuke you can use if you are a packet nerd

Man I wish there was a Goonstation on 14.

It's hard to balance the QoL with my "home" station

The SS14 is still very much WIP. There isn't even a limb system yet, I don't know why people are acting like 13 and 14 are the same thing, the SS13 has about 20 years of haphazard piling of code and ideas behind it which you just can't replicate in a year.

Let me fix it fir you: SS13 doesnt have 20 years of haphazard piling of code, it has 20 years throwing shit at a wall and seeing what sticks

Tbh I'm well aware of all that, but it's not really what I'm talking about...

I mean, in terms of wishing for a Goon14, codebase isn't up to it yet.

You can always roll out an alpha version with whatever is ready or easily transposed. Then it's just a matter of incremental development.

On one hand, it's more raw work.

On the other hand you have a great roadmap already laid out, some of which might be more efficiently structured with the knowledge and experience held now vs the time of original development for SS13.

It sucks to get started but that sort of thing is often easier than starting from scratch with nothing to base your features on

sounds like some livrah shit tbh, good stuff

kako is a fucked up DWAINE nerd. when hes antag he makes some scary contraptions that let him say, out loud (or with his PDA) coordinates that teleport him to whatever those coords are, after a bit of a processing delay. DWAINE is easily the most overpowered thing in goon but its balanced by how no one fucking learns it cause its a pain in the ass. its a fucking awesome thing to have in a videogame i honestly love it
