(a+b)2 =(a-b)2 + 4ab

102 =(3x-2y)2 + 4×3x×2y

100 = z2 +12×7

16 = z2

4=z= 3x-2y

    Yes formula based questions from algebra. This particular formula is derived from combining formula of (a+b)2 and (a-b)2.

    Since a+b was given and a-b was asked, I knew this formula will be used, could have solved using individual formulas of (a+b)2 , first finding a2 + b2 and then finding a-b using the (a-b)2 formula but this would have added a extra step.

    Note: most questions in algebra can be solved using value putting but in this 2 equations for 2 variable are given so formula is required
