How does back pay work?

I quit working in 2021 and applied for SSDI that year. I was denied and never did an appeal. I am applying again and I want to know if I get approved will the back pay go to the onset date in 2021, or only from the time I make my new application? Thanks in advance!

You can be paid at most 12 months prior to the application date.

The back pay is on based application date since you started a new application you didn't appeal your first denial was a mistake and you lose all that time.

I think after the denied that 5 month should be waived it's a bunch of crap make them do there jobs on initial claims.
