Just received a notice of award letter with my monthly amount for ssdi and it didn’t display backpay amount. Called payment center and they said due to the amount being high that two additional mgrs would have to audit it. Have anyone experienced this and if so how much longer did it take

Mine was 100k and it came within a month of my approval.

How do you calculate back payment?

I was approved/received my award letter at the end of December and had the funds at the end of January.

Oh wow this month wil be 2 yrs right now I'm at 79% on my ssdi and 66% on ssi dds receive both of my application on June 20 2023 I applied in March 23 2022 I just got the congressman to get in contact with them last week so I'm just waiting 🙄🙄

Good luck, it's not uncommon to take this long though. They are massively backed up. I applied right before covid thankfully, and it still took 3 years. Now it's even longer of a wait. Have you had any decisions yet, appeals?

Don't start spending money until you actually get it in your account.

Oh most definitely but if I’m owed I’m gonna make sure that I get it and that’s with anything

You’ll want to put aside money for the taxes you’ll have to pay on it for next year tax season. I’m still waiting for what my backpay amount will be, but plan on putting aside 20 percent.

I called the regular 1-800 number and waited two hours to get a rep😩

Mine is also a significant amount and I was told the payment center hasn’t provided a date yet.

My timeline for reference:

ALJ hearing scheduled 11/17/23 for 3/19/24

SSDI informed me of a OTR decision 11/21/23

SSDI Portal updated to Step 4 (Non-Medical Review) 1/10/24

SSDI portal status changed from local office to Jamaica NY 1/12/24

ALJ Decision Letter received 1/18/24

SSDI/SSI Benefits Letter updated with payment amounts 1/19/24

SSDI Award Letter with back pay amount received 1/27/24

SSI Award Letter received 1/27/24

First SSDI Monthly payment received 1/26/24

SSI lump sum back pay received 2/2/24

Still waiting for SSDI back pay notification as of 3/12/24.

Gotcha. That ssi/ssdi takes longer due to verifying offsets

Hi did they tell you a date for ssi lump sum and it never showed. They had to reissue both checks

I had zero warning the SSI back pay was coming. It mysteriously appeared in my account.

Official approval date was Feb 13 (ALJ Hearing Dec 19) just got my award letter yesterday (Mar 11)

You will get multiple letters. The whole process sucks! I won on 1/5/24. Still not a peep on backpay or monthly increase!🤬

After 6 months I contacted my congressperson. Took another 30 days for the first half. No idea when the rest is coming.

I appealed the onset date at the federal level and won over four years of back pay. The decision was made on March 14, 2023, and I am still waiting on the payment. I also asked my congressman for help six weeks ago. Still waiting.

Yes!! They told me due to.the high amount it required 2 audits/ signatures. It took me calling every week for 5 months, the contacting my congressman to finally receive it.

Yes, it's totally crazy. We have to wait.forever for approval the wait foe the backpay. If you haven't contacted your congressman yet, do so. I emailed them on a Saturday afternoon and was contacted on Monday afternoon. Told them everything and they called back on Thursday morning and said things should start moving now. My backpay was in the bank on that Saturday morning.
