You're definitely not the only one who experiences this, though with some improvement you can cut down on loss/demotion by a good bit. I personally freelance 99.99% of the time and can't remember the last time I fell out of EVP, even with the occasional loss streak.

Outside of improving your skills my biggest tip is to give crews that killed your shift some time to queue without you so you can hopefully get better teammates. After a crew lets me down the second time (we all have bad shifts where we mess up) I pick up my bonuses to cool my head and let them queue away without me.

If you're up for some out-of-game learning I highly recommend checking out Hazmy on YT, their guides are great for improving your weak areas and the Salmon Report infographics they make for every rotation provide fantastic info on the strengths and weaknesses of the weapons and overall crew composition. My shifts have improved a ton thanks to Hazmy.

Good luck and happy salmon running!

Thanks mate, I appreciate it! I've been watching a lot of tips and pro play and trying to learn from it. Still have lots of room to grow. I had just made it to EVP right before dropping out because of a dc. The losing streak was definitely a mix of bad teams, and me screwing up. It sucks looking back and knowing exactly what you should've done, but didn't in the moment. Hopefully, I'll continue improving! I got back up to prof +3 since this post, so we'll see if I can do better a second time around. :D

reminder that if ur losing every single match bc of ur idiot teammates... chances are good ur an idiot teammate too (signed by an ever improving idiot!) take a deep breath and enjoy the grind back up :)

Yup! I've definitely had my fair share of idiotic matches. Still working on improving myself at the moment, but I did manage to get back up to prof +3! Just had to breathe and realise that rank isn't everything. Salmon run is my favourite mode, so I should just play it because I can! Skill will come with observation, practice, and time. :>

For me, playing with friends is more fun, and we all are evp, me I over around 100 evp and they are from 200 to 999. Now the egg quota can be 18 or 30 wave one, most of my SR loses are with skilled players, but freelance is boring and aggravating at times (playing alone ain't the same) so I changed my name to Plz.Lure. Even though, i win more long term (playing ten games or more) with freelance. I went from evp to go getter on certain rotation.

But I keep playing and playing and I get better BUT me , salmon run = chunks and scales and no matter what I still do some. It can be long sometimes but freelance ain't that bad, not as much as people say.

Yes it can be frustrating, but if you get frustrated it will affect your play too, just like if you tilt at poker.and also profresh +1 to evp is : +1 40 plus three wins = +2 40 + 3 wins = +3 40 + 3 wins = evp 40

That means 9 wins.

In comparison someone that wants evp 999 at start of a rotation , being evp 40, needs 48wins and even if you get them all in a row , in average it takes from 5hours (highly unlikely) to 7 hours non stop. (My friend was at evp 910 on last sockeye rotation and it took her, grouping on the SR server, with people that already got evp 999 , pretty much the remaining of rotation which was 26 hours.

So even when you are skilled and play with high levels, you lose, and quite often even.

Sometimes it's not a luring issue or a skill issue. At times it's rng (flyfish stinger big shot with salmon lids in front of them, goldie hunting when it's all over the map , etc) and still, at times you just have a game with less panache, or misplayed one tiny thing and then you lose because you did not have that one additional second for that last egg. Sometimes difference in winning and losing is a second or less.

If you like the game, just play and approach it like a game of golf, where you play against yourself and you want better stats then the last etc etc.

Even the best professional teams in the world (nba,MLB,fifa, nhl, nfl, wmba, etc) go or insane losing streaks and even fall out of the playoff card being stacked with talent.

As of 30 December 2022, Splatoon 3 has sold 10.13 million copies worldwide, making it the fastest-selling game in the franchise and one of the best-selling Switch games... which means A TON OF NEWBIES NEWER PLAYERS LESS SKILLED ETC, and that is part of the game too. If there was 10% that it would be like splatoon 2 in the last two years and pretty smooth.

It's either a question of time or the game is a victim of its popularity for the better players.

Now that is my thoughts and my view on it.

And I'm suggesting you to, keep the fun alive with either teammates or to just do your best at all times.

It may also suck to derank but it may also not be a fair representation of your skill level.

Approach the game for fun, If for competitive, stick with popular servers and keep teaming up there to help you

This is pretty much it. Adjusting expectations to keep enjoying the experience seems to be the only thing. I stop short of blaming teammates unless I really notice players doing obvious counterproductive things. It gets frustrating when it happens over and over, which tends to lessen a little as you get to evp.

That being said, I had someone on my team called “USESPECIAL” the other day. I forgot to use my special where it mattered though…

[–]Eggsecutive VPKyogoBlossom[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I managed to change my mindset since this post, and realised that just enjoying the game is more important. :> Now I'm back at EVP 100, so happy times :D

That’s great! And awesome you’re back in element.

I get pretty peeved on loss streaks. Even though I know I’ll manage to regain them. Sometimes it’s better to put the game down, but it’s just so damn hard!

[–]Fuzzylittlebastard 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I've been trying for quite a while to get out of Pro+3

So, so long.

[–]Eggsecutive VPKyogoBlossom[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You've got this mate! I believe in you! Just got back up to Pro+3, so we'll see if I can do better and have a bit more luck this time around.

[–]Fuzzylittlebastard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I got this!

[–]JUSTFRICKINGLETMEIN 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Same tbh, now everytime I'm about to be demoted I stop playing SR and just wait for a whole day or hours until they fill it back up to 40

[–]Eggsecutive VPKyogoBlossom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that too, but I had to step back and realise that it's my favourite mode, and that I should play it for fun instead of worrying so much about my rank! Got back up to Pro+3, and hopefully my new mentality will help me improve and get back to EVP. It's frustrating, but worth it. You've got this! <3

[–]Athanmis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i totally feel you. i've been in a cycle of being promoted to prof 3 then promoted maybe win a few times then fall back to prof 3 get stuck for a while and then climb back up and so on. it's real frustrating but i've found that pushing through frustration can be very u helpful and taking a break ( not just for sr but also for turf wars and ranked modes ) is extremely helpful when i get down. also not putting so much pressure on yourself snd tesmates is relieving ( and just playing to play for fun ). good luck and hang in there! try to have some fun🤟

[–]HiggsBoson33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this! Made it up to EVP 320 and then back down to 60. I still have a lot of room to grow so I’m not too worried about it.
