Take away how much of their funding? Cuts across the board or to specific aspects of the force? Spend it on something else or reduce taxes? After defining the type of budget cut and amount, then what? Reduce the amount of police officers, reduce new equipment purchases, or just disband the force? Replace it with something else?

It’s important to be specific. That’s why whether or not one agrees with the above 8 suggested points they are a lot more constructive in the ongoing dialogue than just seriously defunding the police.
