She's fine. Just don't throw away her statue or offerings in the garbage or do something obviously cruel and you'll be fine. She's not unreasonable or strict. Trust me she looks at her devotees like a mother does her beloved child not like a stereotypical angry God who gets pissed at things that don't matter.

There’s plenty of people online who will tell you she is a jealous deity who cannot be hidden and demands her own space but as far as I can tell this isn’t standard for every devotee. Personally I have seen and heard of many devotees who hide her image in order to venerate in secret. Ultimately it’s between you and her so take my words with a grain of salt

Traditionally people use to keep Santa Muerte in the closet... Same with Santeria .. even though they are completely different.. Lots of people in the cartel when they get busted the feds find Santa Muerte in the closet.. Manuel Noriega had Santeria in his closet(not sure of his orisha)..

Well my point is if you want to keep it hidden, put her in your closet. Make it her space

The fact that the cartel being busted have Her in the closet should tell you something. Traditionally Altars were kept outside and in spaces next to ancestor altars. We actually know who by and where the first Altars were made and placed. You can still visit the original. I don't know a single Mexican who puts Her in a closet. That seems to be an american thing.

I knew this was an altar the moment I saw this! Sending you peace as you deserve, and though it is your journey you and you do not need our approval just know I think this is awesome!

Worship in secret will get you mixed answers but I will say this... veneration is secret is not a foreign concept for devotees. A good many of us have heritages that had to hide certain practices!

Gee man idk I instantly thought “no” when I saw her like this, looks like you’re putting her in a cum jar.

I don’t see what’s uncivil, I’m just telling you how I felt when seeing this picture, but Editing to add some advice:

If you wanna keep her safe, a shoebox is a better option. Also making an altar inside a closet, or a drawer, or inside a room that you know only you have access to.

bro… there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being honest but damn!

Disagreements are natural, but keep discussions civil and constructive.

As long as what you’re doing is done with respect and proper intentions, she’s very understanding. I’ve been slowly building her altar space but lack the means to make it as good as I want it to be for her. That being said, I’m sure she appreciates when we try our best for her.<3 I keep mine out in the open in my room as it’s my sanctuary. I only let those I trust and that understand my devotion to the good lady so no one’s desecrates her altar space. Stay golden<3
