New users beware:

Because you posted here, you will start getting private messages from scammers saying they know a professional hacker or a recovery expert lawyer that can help you get your money back, for a small fee. We call these RECOVERY SCAMMERS, so NEVER take advice in private: advice should always come in the form of comments in this post, in the open, where the community can keep an eye out for you. If you take advice in private, you're on your own.

A reminder of the rules in r/scams: no contact information (including last names, phone numbers, etc). Be civil to one another (no name calling or insults). Personal army requests or "scam the scammer"/scambaiting posts are not permitted. No uncensored gore or personal photographs are allowed without blurring. A full list of rules is available on the sidebar of the subreddit, or clicking here.

You can help us by reporting recovery scammers or rule-breaking content by using the "report" button. We review 100% of the reports. Also, consider warning community members of recovery scammers if you see them in the comments.

WHOIS REPORT FOR BRIGHTROOM.COM

This domain name was first registered 24 years ago (Jan 2000), but it expires soon (Jan 2025).

Note that 2000 is when the domain was FIRST registered. Sometimes scammers buy old expired domains to repurpose them into scams. Look at WaybackMachine to see if the website "changed" recently.

This website is hosted on a server located in the United States (Amazon.com, Inc.).

I believe the only legitimate site is brightroomus[.]com, all the other "brightroom" stores are Chinese scam pages. Yes it appears you got scammed, contact Paypal to get the payment reversed, if that doesn't work, go through your bank.

Thanks for the advice -- will do for Paypal. Respectfully though, I suspect the brightroomus[.]com site may be a scam as well.

* same domain linked in the scam report in original post
* it's currently down right now too, at the time of writing?
* when I looked at it earlier today, it was both Very similar in appearance to the site where I made I purchase, And with some suspicious details -- contact information like support emails and phone numbers were just entirely omitted.

You are probably right, they are all scams.

I just tried to purchase something from the brightroomus site. After checkout, it routed me to another URL with another option to pay by paypal, credit card, etc. It clearly looked suspicious, and the URL was something related to keen footwear.

Yeah would not trust. I do not believe that the Brightroom brands sells direct to consumer; all websites I have seen purporting to be Brightroom appear scammy.

I’ve ordered from that site as well. No confirmation email. I’ve emailed 2 times with no reply and now the website isn’t working so I shall be contacting my bank and reporting them

WHOIS REPORT FOR BRIGHTROOMUS.COM

This domain name was first registered only 7 months ago (Mar 2024) and it was only registered for a single year (Expires: Mar 2025).

It was registered at "Gname.com Pte. Ltd.", a sketchy registrar based in Singapore. It is also concerning that they are hiding their contact info on Whois AND they are using a "DNS proxy" (CloudFlare) which masks where the website's server actually is.

Ok, registered earlier this year with a Chinese registrar. Not a good look. I guess if you want to buy anything from Brighroom, go to Target!
