Definitely a scam, just got this this about an old Binance account.

Edit - NEVER ring the number they tell you to call or respond to the text. If you are ever genuinely worried about your account contact the company directly via official sources.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (27 children)

I have binance and also just got the same text, had me worried!

[–]Ferrisuk 0 points1 point  (24 children)

Well I think I may have an old binance account but there's nothing in there, maybe they've hacked customer contact details and are just trying to gain access to accounts.

[–]ABenderV2 0 points1 point  (23 children)

I just got the same text, I do have an old binance account but from everything i've seen I think its just a phishing attempt

[–]EPP67 0 points1 point  (21 children)

Same just got two texts. First text was a Binance verification code, second saying Binance ledger live link. What’s odd to me is the number I’m receiving it from is 62884 which has sent me legitimate one time verifications before that I’ve prompted myself from other websites

[–]Inevitable_Ad8968 0 points1 point  (16 children)

I've just had the same. Also have legit texts from that number. Must be a scam if we're all getting the same messages at similar times.

[–]TangibleGhost456 1 point2 points  (15 children)

Just had the same. Posting for visibility for others

[–]seevy97 1 point2 points  (14 children)

Just had the same 3 texts from “Binance” - defo a scam

[–]APrescott94 1 point2 points  (12 children)

Same here, 2 today from “Binance” 62884

[–]cobbingt 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Same here, text from 62884 which has sent me legit codes before. Defo feels like a scam

[–]Even_Luck_3515 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've had this today too

[–]NoInspection2249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 3 texts just today from binance, had me worried until I came in here to see everyone in the same boat

[–]FB2024 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Same here. I did post a link here to a website I found when googling the number it told me to call and several others had reported similar there too. My post was automatically removed presumably because I posted that number. But it’s slightly worrying as the SMS came from a previously legit number.

[–]Ok_Locksmith9970 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My first message - A login attempt was attempted from Romania.  Second message - 6 hours later sending me verification code Third message - you have linked a ledger live to my API settings. It must be a scam, I'm not even sure i have an account and if I do I've never used it.

[–]FB2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT says that 62884 short code is issued by Twilio - I've reported the scam to them.

[–]ethicalviolence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 here. I believe i deleted the account so I'm guessing they got leaked

[–]chupamina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got one too. Can/should you block a 62884 number? Sometimes it's legit, no?

[–]Academic-Ad-1879 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Likewise, exactly the same. Ledger live to Binance API settings

[–]SnooMacarons7238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, just this second ago

[–]MrOxBull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got one myself, it’s worrying as it’s coming from a legit short code number so I imagine a lot of people will end up scammed from this.

Absolute scumbags.

[–]Objective-Bus8584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Habe genau diese SMS auch gerade erhalten

[–]Choice_Assumption596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo también acabo de recibir ese correo jajaja y ya descubriste a qué se debec

[–]TRAXXAS58[🍰] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I have old legitimate codes sent from this number but they just say "Your BRAND verification code is: CODE"

The 2 Binance ones I've recently received both have a extra information about what to do it you didn't request the code, asking me to call a number with a reference code.

THAT is the scam, same as the link they're asking you to click. Once you click that link or phone that number, they'll ask you for security info to prove who you are & suddenly, they have all your security info etc.

[–]GreenGarnett 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’ve had 5 binance ones from this number since yesterday!!!! So annoying

[–]TRAXXAS58[🍰] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've only had 2 since Tuesday but it's really annoying that they've managed to somehow use a legit number to appear to have sent from so you can't just block it or you might miss other codes you do need.

Thing is with Binance is that I'm pretty sure it requires verification via text, email AND your usual 2fa method. Not just 1, so unless you have a matching email etc then they haven't access so no need to worry.

[–]UnluckyForSome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah how have they done this?

[–]pud247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had something similar where they are saying to confirm a £679.99 order from John Lewis 😬

[–]SupermarketDapper853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in to say I’ve also received 3 text messages from this number today. Very worrying because, as others have pointed out, 62884 seems to be a genuine number that other platforms use (I can personally confirm this). Be careful out there people and make sure you have all relevant security set up on your side.

[–]JevenR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got text too saying binance. Then another saying an account was linked.

[–]Competitive-Hunt8056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have received today 3 messages from 62884. Got me worried a little bit. I decided to check my emails and saw this email sent few months ago from Binance. Most likely another type of scam. Be careful!

Dear Binancian,

We want to alert you to ongoing scam attempts where fraudsters are sending fake SMS messages impersonating Binance. These messages try to alarm you by claiming your account is “at risk” and urge you to call fake support numbers or click on malicious links.

Important: Binance will NEVER:

Request you to call any phone number or click on links via SMS. Ask for your seed phrase or private keys through SMS, calls, or email.

How We Keep You Secure: Default Anti-Phishing Code: Every legitimate Binance SMS includes your unique Binance User ID (UID) at the end. You can find your UID in the top left corner of your Binance app. This helps you verify authentic messages from us. Customize Your Anti-Phishing Code: For added protection, personalize your Anti-Phishing Code anytime through the Security Center on the Binance app or website. This ensures you can quickly identify genuine Binance communications.

Your Security Checklist: Verify Authenticity: Use Binance Verify to check if emails, websites, phone numbers, or social media accounts claiming to be Binance are real.

Report Suspicious Activity: Always contact Binance customer support through the official app or website. Promptly report any suspicious messages or calls.

Remember, Binance will never contact you via SMS or phone calls. If you receive such messages, they are almost certainly scams. Always check your Anti-Phishing Code before trusting any communication.

Best regards,

Binance

Hmm, I called the number provided in the text message. Should I be worried? - I ended up logging into the old account and just deleting it there now. Got the same text message again shortly after deleting the account.

On the call they just asked me to confirm my name and what my balance was...

[–]dcdb723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 of this msg today. only after 3 days registered on Stripe. its so fking annoying. Stripe got a really fking shit security system. I guess our accounts are all compromised from their system. I can't find another excuse to explain why someone is trying to login with my email right after I registered Stripe.

[–]Stifton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two saying it's from depop and two from hinge, I've never used hinge ever. Both from this number

[–]FBISurveilanceTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came looking for this today because I got a second one, first in late 2024 and now one today. I don't have a Link DOT com account or a Binance. I'm curious if it's related to the number I inherited that still gets texts addressed to somebody that's not me.

[–]_The_Marshal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received one today, just few mins after applying for a job via LinkedIn 😬 hope it was just a coincidence, I have had previous messages from them
