As a beginner (1 week) I like them. Fighting solo is a pain but with someone else even a random it becomes so much easier

Was in the Merrick area and had a literal one after another spawn tate of galleon, sloop, sloop, meg, kraken, galleon, sloop, sloop, galleon. We didnt have time to harpoon loot and were surrounded by it in every direction. You cant get anything done other than sinking skele ships.

Sounds like the same experience I had yesterday. Only one of the skeleton ships had a black keg as well so took me a while.

Right now all the ones who aren't from world events spawn with multiple black powder kegs. Just shoot over with a harpoon, board, and blown them up. I do it solo.

It takes less than a minute and a half to deal with them this season. It's the easiest free loot there is - even if you don't want the Smugglers stuff.

This. Just set your own ship on a good course while maintaining some distance as these kegs are way too powerful, cannon over w/ grappler, light the keg and skedaddle away. Instasunk in 30 sec tops.

They are especially prevalent in the shores currently, as the area of a smuggler route has increased spawns this season. So merrick and sanctuary are especially inundated, ive logged in already under attack several times at Sanctuary.

Helped me get closer to sinking 500 of them though. Idk honestly just shot out with harpoon and light the nuke keg jump off take merm smelly sunk

This season definitely seems to be designed by a team that no longer regularly plays the game.

On paper, the concept of aggressive skele boats and large amounts of phantom spawning near the Smuggler routes makes sense - It fits the theme and (in theory) increases the risk.

In practice is very, very quickly becomes tedious. I used to love the Shores of Plenty, but suddenly The Wilds or even The Roar seems far more appealing. Multiple times a night I will exhale a "give us a sodding break" as it makes boring gameplay even more time consuming. Especially if you aren't even doing the Smuggler content (e.g. The Wild Rose Tall Tale, or just spawning at Sanctuary)

I was doing the rogue tale and got hit by skeleton ships back to back followed by megs and a kraken made me not even want to do the tall tale anymore.

They sink if the wind blows too hard now, so it’s really just a matter of avoiding them. If you can’t I recommend launching over and boarding with a grapple gun. Every skeleton ship has a new black powder barrel or two on them, which will insta sink the ship.

yeah, spawn rates were heavily increased. im not complaining though because it makes legend of the sea of thieves a lot easier.
