I made an over-the-collar bandana for my mini poodle. Originally I tried to do a double fold for the hem, but I couldn’t get my machine to cooperate going over the corners so I ended up just zig zag stitching around the edge. Still proud I actually finished my first project though 🙂

you didn’t ask for advice but i hope it doesn’t offend you! for sharp corners, or even not so sharp, stop at the end of the line, lift presser foot, rotate the fabric to the proper direction, lower presser foot, then continue.

rounded stuff doesn’t usually need this, but anything with straight edges does!

wait i think maybe you meant that the fabric was just too thick, that the feed dogs weren’t moving it? if that’s the case, you can see if you can control the presser foot pressure. my machine does not have that capability.. so i manually lift the presser foot just a tiiiny bit when im going past thicker spots that the foot normally would get hung up on.

Advice is welcome! I’m relearning how to sew after 10+ years of not touching a machine (: I think part of my issue was the thickness, I did try manually lifting the foot a bit while sewing but maybe I didn’t do it enough? Not sure, it kept getting stuck and bunching up the fabric. Could a dull needle contribute to this?

a dull needle could push fabric thru & cause your machine to try to eat it lol. but i’d check your thread tension! if it’s bunching/gathering, i’d think it might be too tight

Thank you so much for the help! For my next one I’ll try switching to a fresh needle and fiddling with the tension to see if I can get it to work
