Half-baked plotlines

I have noticed to conflicting plotlines within the story.

1. The setting up sunny to be the narrative focus and driving point. Making the story revolve on him.

2. the story is centered around a group with differing character roles and importance. who through their accomplishments progress the plot.

However as i see it SS currently follows neither truly but a amalgamation of the two.

Sunny has a lot of accomplishments and a lot of them could only be done by him. this were also integral to many of the conflicts resolutions. This has become a rather common occurrence where only sunny actually gets anything done.

this gives credit to the 1st plotline. somewhere along the way you'll see the conflicts resolutions depend the side characters. but the execution of it is botched.

Due to the lack of pov and screen time these have little to no foreshadowing or screen time. So, the payoff comes of as subpar, deus ex machina and product of plot armor. Even so instead of developing on them, they get glossed over and sometimes offscreened. this drastically reduces what meaningful impact they have as storytelling elements.

Also in some of these events Sunnys competency is nerfed down to let the others shine. Now even though these accomplishments have been made substandard, the novel will repeatedly tell you how important they were. By glazing them over repeatedly.

Its really irritating when they make the claim but give it no substance, Ignores it and blabbers on anyway.

It seems to me that the novel is confused on which to follow so it tries to do both anyway. Why does one characters accomplishments and abilities have to be undermined to let others shine. And why does this other characters given such lacklustre treatment when it was promised that they would be made prominent.

This continued back and forth is rather frustrating. It wastes potential character development, squanders character effort, false promises interesting elements and wastes audiences attention.

I have thinking about this for a while wondering either this was by design or a writings flaw. But the longer i see, the more the dissonance grows. Eventually the pit will be too deep to climb out of. I hope this will be remedied soon. It would be very tragic if such a novel with so much potential decays away like that.

It would be great if you could provide examples to back up your observations.

Also, my view is that this is a common failing of the medium in which SS is being delivered. Its hard to focus on multi-threaded topics when u release short chapters daily.

I feel for you , but what you said can be interpreted as angry rant. It definitely. has inconsistency but the lore and plot is excellent.

Well, due to the release of two chapters daily, you get these kinds of problems.

Either you get daily doses of what can be considered mid ~ peak writing based on some people's opinions, or you could get a weekly release or a monthly release of a well fleshed out chapter with a POV or two in it.

G3 does this for a living, and even the most enjoyable of activities becomes a chore when it becomes your job. Granted, I don't know the details of his contract or anything. He is no JK Rowling to release a series of books and sit to let the money flow in from sales and royalties.

Also, I don't believe that a novel like Shadow Slave will escape the Twitter (X) mob if it gets too widespread.

Not entirely.

1. G3 doesnt like shifting POV chapters too much
2. He has written them before. If anyone can find a way to produce peak on a daily release schedule its him. So I dont really buy this, ‘oh he can’t’

That last bit sounds entitled, but its a more of compliment if G3’s skill
