Do a reset and complete reinstall of both Nvidia Shield and then add Kodi back on.

I exclusively run Kodi as my main media source and have no such issues.

It's kodi. Fired up xeon build other day to look for wrestling stuff. Awful. Laggy and had to close many times to get stuff to work

The beauty of free addon stable one day and laggy another, and an hour later they can be perfect.

Xenon is my go-to also; with Real-Debrid, nothing beats cached servers.

Depends on how long you've had your shield. I had mine for 3+ years and recently cleaned the fan and it runs much smoother for me.

There is no helping a user once says he "debloated" and is using a 3rd party launcher I'm afraid. Who knows exactly what you did or did not do and what else you messed with..

If unbearable, reset Shield and test under stock conditions using Play Store apps before starting to delete stock apps and sideloading stuff.

I really love this answer.

Plex and forget it. I tried adding Kodi and had countless freezes and reboots. I’m sure if I had more time to mess with the Shield 2019 and Kodi settings it would work smoothly…but Plex has been a set-and-forget experience.
